We have reviewed the new G7 Cordless Laser Mouse from Logitech, claiming to be their highest performing cordless laser mouse to date...but can it live up to high expectations? Click below to find out!

"The response from this mouse is very precise. It doesn’t lag; the movement is smooth and is overall what you’d expect from the specification."

"When you hold the mouse, it feels natural on my slightly larger than average hand. I do believe it will feel comfortable on smaller hands too, even for a child."

After the horror experience from previous Logitech... I am sticking with Microsoft Mouse..
In fact, I just made the purchase on Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000

Nice review. I must be the only one that digs the tealish colour scheme they've got on the go there hmm ah well. I'm going to wait for the next revision of this line, my mx510 will keep me happy for the time being, I'll wait till they give us extra side button back, I find it invaluable for FPS games I use it as "use" in almost everygame that has that command.

I'm sticking with the MX1000, thanks. It kicks this G7's ass.
#5.1 icebrain on 24 Oct 2005 - 21:49
after reading this review, i agree with you.

Even though the MX1000 lacks the 2000dpi resolution and the +/- buttons to adjust DPI, its battery life is quite longer - on full charge mine stays alive for more then a week.

I just wish Logitech fixes up their SetPoint software :-( By default the Back and Forward buttons don't map directly to Button 4 & 5
#5.2 Shadow Dragon on 24 Oct 2005 - 21:57
Yep, the MX1000 is still the best mouse out there for the average user who wants style and efficiency.
#5.3 Mystical112 on 25 Oct 2005 - 03:56
even the MX700 its not laser tho... but its good...
#5.4 Raa on 25 Oct 2005 - 06:24
A week? Crikey! My Microsoft mouse lasts me 3 months on a full charge

Drop them in the charger overnight, and I get another 3 months!

Geez!

Oh no, its quite possible, if you use your mouse 5 minutes a day it easely does a few months .
#6 chorpeac on 24 Oct 2005 - 21:50
this mouse looks sweeeeeet! I'd like to try it, but I just got one recently...
#7 SadJoker on 24 Oct 2005 - 21:51
Ugly color and due to this review, I don't think I'll be picking this up anytime soon.

I'll stick with my IntelliMouse Explorer.

only if i could afford it
#9 sullysnet on 24 Oct 2005 - 22:37

Unfortunately, Logitech just isn't making the level of products they did five years ago, now they have stockholders to satisfy.
#10.1 breadfan on 25 Oct 2005 - 00:43
Please, the best products are made with profits in mind. If Logitech keeps making crap consumers will go elsewhere.
#10.2 Raa on 25 Oct 2005 - 06:23
Funnily enough, they are already...
#10.3 rIaHc3 on 25 Oct 2005 - 12:33
Logitech still makes GREAT products. So this one is not their best; No company can make everything perfect.
#11 moerl on 24 Oct 2005 - 22:54
I have an MX1000, and see no reason whatsoever to upgrade . I have yet to read the review but I can tell just from earlier comments that what I just said makes sense.

I wonder if the G7 has less leg than the MX1000.. the MX1000 has no lag, pretty much, although to me it doesn't feel as entirely lagless as a wired mouse, dunno. Maybe I'm just paranoid about lagging... or, well, laganoid, if you will.
#12 hixxydude on 24 Oct 2005 - 22:58
I have the G5 mouse and I love the thing, and could not be without it, the build quality and overall feel of it is top notch.
#13 Kosh Naranek on 25 Oct 2005 - 00:23
I switched from an MX1000 to the G7 and I like everything about it except the low battery life.
#14 Yvo on 25 Oct 2005 - 00:26
well my mx700 is close to the end of its life (3 years of use) but i'll avoid the g7... looks like i'll get the mx1000
#15 noll3095 on 25 Oct 2005 - 00:27
I've had this mouse for the past 2-3 weeks and it's the best mouse I've ever used. I have not experienced any issues with it not responding; it has always worked great. The battery life isn't great due to it having no power save mode (so it's always ready to work right away) but it still lasts me the better part of the week if I remember to turn it off.
#16 IsLNdbOi on 25 Oct 2005 - 01:05
Eeew. It has no back or forward buttons like my MX1000. :p
#17 nomis_nehc on 25 Oct 2005 - 01:05
setting the forward and back buttons to generic will make it function like it should.
#18 hixxydude on 25 Oct 2005 - 01:09
The g5 has the power of the g7 with no battery problems.

I have had the MX1000 and it just never worked for me so gave it to the gf who loves it.
#19 masterren on 25 Oct 2005 - 01:10
I don't really understand why they would take away the forward button and move the scroll up button to just above the scroll down button. I guess I'll have to wait for the next models.
#20 dhitb on 25 Oct 2005 - 01:27
I wonder why they went to the crowded 2.4GHz. Perhaps 27MHz didn't have the capacity to support higher sampling rates?
#21 Matt on 25 Oct 2005 - 02:07
i dont know why logitech stopped making mice with two buttons on the left. its nice to have to scroll back and forth through webpages.
#22 Master Shake on 25 Oct 2005 - 02:52
I LOVE my mx1000. I don't know why they removed some of the buttons for it.

I don't really like the Setpoint software.
#23 dolimite35 on 25 Oct 2005 - 04:08
I like my mx1000 but i liked the feel and design of the mx700 so the G7 looks good to me but i wont buy it.

For gaming the mx518 is actually better than the mx1000. I read a detailed review comparing both and apparently although the mx1000 is great for precision it's not quite as easy to move around really quickly and accurately like you need to do in a fps.
#26 theyarecomingforyou on 25 Oct 2005 - 09:39
Can you please improve the layout and increase the text size? I have no doubt that the article is interesting but in the current format it is useless.

I never could figure out the appeal of wireless mice and keyboards. Using up batteries and lower performance for what? It's not like you are going to be using them from across the room or something.
#27.1 theyarecomingforyou on 25 Oct 2005 - 15:43
I hate the cord of a wired mouse getting caught on things and throwing off my aim when I'm gaming (and, to a lesser extent, on the desktop). It's hardly a hassle to change batteries every month or two (never the 6 months specified by the manufacturer) and I use rechargeables and always keep some on charge.

Also, I sometimes setup movies and want to watch them from a distance, so being able to move my mouse where I want is very useful.
#28 rIaHc3 on 25 Oct 2005 - 12:39
I switched from a MX700 to a MX1000 - I wish this mouse lasts me till Im dead. Im in love with it. Great performence. AMAZING battery life. Very accurate. Anyone will tell you that this mouse is great. The only complain people give is that it has a "stand by" mode which turn off the laser after a few seconds when you dont move the mouse; When you move the mouse it turns back on but it takes maybe 1-2 ms to turn back on but I dont even notice it. But hey; People complain for anything and everything.

IMO and personal experience the MX1000 is the best wireless mouse built.
#29 redFX on 25 Oct 2005 - 13:34
For a gaming mouse, you'd think they'd add buttons not remove them. I need my back/forth buttons on the side. I got them programmed in different games... wish I had more buttons on the mouse, not less... I'm on an MX700 btw

neowin should really put pictures in the reviews!

A good review imo. A lot of people dont like to admit that they admit you bought a product that is not so great.
#33 ipodman715 on 26 Oct 2005 - 00:44
