Security updates for Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 and Internet Explorer in Windows Vista Beta 1 are now available from the Windows Vista/IE 7 beta downloads page on the Connect site. Direct links to these updates are also provided below. These security updates resolve a vulnerability in IE 7 Beta 1 and IE in Windows Vista Beta 1 that has already been addressed for released/supported versions of Internet Explorer by Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-052.

These security updates apply only to the official Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 and Windows Vista Beta 1 builds (build version 5112 for each). You do not need to install this update if you have already installed one of the more recent Windows Vista builds that are available from the Windows Vista/IE 7 beta downloads page on the Connect site (the latest is build 5231). More specific details on the issue and fix, as well as detailed installation instructions, can be found in the release notes that are included in the downloads for these security updates.

Note: Both updates requre you to be an official tester with access to connect.microsoft.com.

Yea, how dare they fix things in a beta.

Idiot

Exactly I hope they get it right before they go RTM,

What do you think a beta program is for? Could it be to fix bugs and problems in the OS perhaps?

Tard tastic, people cannot even read the story right.

"You do not need to install this update if you have already installed one of the more recent Windows Vista builds that are available from the Windows Vista/IE 7 beta downloads page on the Connect site"

The clue is in the 'if you have a later build', all MS have done is fixed it for people not on the Tech Beta and who do not have the latest build installed and thus would need to patch it.

Sometimes I wonder if people can read *sigh*

It's good that Microsoft supply patches to a previous build of a beta. Most software houses would force you to get the latest build every time...

shesh fanboys

someone makes a comment and you nuts come out of the wood work.

werejag: I don't really Defiant's comments are any-wrong... I bet he/she's just trying to express what testers would've thought when they see this.

While Vista has new builds release regularly, IE7 beta doesn't. This is the second time (after the July launch) it releases a newer version (and this time as a patch). So I personally don't think there are anything that's laughable.

Anyone who is on the tech beta knows this if you got it at the PDC or MSDN you would not so therefore you would need the patch if you were using B1 to develop stuff with.

Tech testers would all be running later builds and therefore have no need to install this patch.

Just the comments make it look like tards galore are jumping on the patch this patch that bandwagon when only MS have done the sensible thing and patched an older build.

Here ends todays lesson on the CLUE

well-said, I have nothing to add.

too bad the link requires Connect login, which means it's still only available to tech betas and not TechNet/MSDN Subscribers

i see the you fanboys are still at it.

and you call us clueless. lmao

They're not "fanboys". I run Linux with a passion, but they're obviously right. Betas are for fixing things. Plus, if you have the latest build you don't even need the patch.

I'd much rather the patch was applied by default in the retail version then me having to apply it myself.

Now if only I could dld the latest patch for the 5112 version .. and nope I am not on MSDN, like many others willing to run the beta.

Quote this comment #6.1 Posted by Netrack on 09 Nov 2005 - 20:41
you have to be an offical beta tester form MS

Lets see, IE7 beta 1= patching the patches of the patch which patched the patch of the final patch which had to be patched.
Thank god they don't make tires!
Quote this comment #7.1 Posted by leojei on 09 Nov 2005 - 23:54
so let's see - a beta testing without patches and uninstall/reinstall, wouldn't that be something other than a beta or RTM products? If you call it a "beta", then it's patch + reinstall. Thank god you aren't making any software.

I'll wait for Beta 2, I had fun with Beta 1, but some things did not work, no Im not MSDN.

anyone got DIRECT 'direct' link?

I'm getting Error: The page you have requested is unavailable or you do not have access.

I know I'm not an official beta tester but I'm using IE7 and I'd like to install this update (:
