Eric Brodish, Beta Coordinator for Microsoft has sent out invites to testers asking them to participate in a new Service Pack for Microsoft Update v6. The beta scheduled to start in the beginning of 2006 will concentrate on improving services to Microsoft Update, a seperate service offered by Microsoft's Windows Update program.

Microsoft Update combines Windows and Office updates to a central point and when a user activates the service it replaces Windows Update. It is not yet the default service linked from Internet Explorer or Automatic Updates from Windows XP.

Question: If you tested Windows Update like I did, is it possible to test this service pack automatically?

I doubt it...since they moved everything from the old betaplace to 'connect'

The way my email was worded, it seems like it is:

", and as a previous beta participant, we have nominated you to join this program (which will also put you on our list for future beta programs)."

I was on the previous beta so if that is what you are referring to rIaHc3, then perhaps you will receive an invitation as well.

Might want to spell it as separate...looks better.

Doesn't sound like the most exciting thing to beta test, though. hehe

I got this invite yesterday, but when I enter the invitation ID it says it invalid.
Maybe they haven't got around to turning them on yet?

There's something wrong with yours if it didn't work. Mine worked just fine yesterday.

Why doesn't Vista use MU instead of WU? Seems crazy to me...
