According to the BBC mobile music downloads are soaring in popularity.
Nearly 7% of all music purchased this year has been downloaded via a mobile device according to the UK charts company (OCC).
Gnarls Barkley's hit Crazy is expected to reach number 1 this weekend based on digital sales via stores like iTunes and Napster. Crazy is yet to be released to stores yet and will make history if the song reaches number one in the UK charts this Sunday.
86% of people still purchase music via online stores such as iTunes and Napster. The problem the UK faces is that people currently have to pay once for the song and then another for downloading it (data costs). With T-Mobile recently announcing unlimited GPRS, it's likely that many other operators will follow and 2007 will become a big year for mobile music.
