- They're looking like they're gonna be way behind Intel for releases which isn't a wise move, but none the less I don't want a half-complete processor.
The trouble AMD will face with marketing is that by the time they release their processors 6 months to a year after Intel, everyone will have bought Intel because they didn't want to fall behind the pack to have the latest technology processor-wise. -

- but who actually feels that way? who actually says OMG i only have pentium 4 and pentium 5 is the latest omg i gotta have it. Except for hardcore users like us, the average consumer really doesn't care and most companies are upgrading on a timetable anyway so they also don't feel that emotion much either.
While generally it isn't good to be "behind" the technology of your competitor in this day, there's no way of seeing how these chips actually compete against each other until they are actually released.

- A technical comparison between Intel's next-gen processor architecture with AMD's current Opterton/Athlon64 prcessor design. A very interesting read...

- To compare next-gen tech with current tech is NOT a fair comparison. Just as it wasn't fair to compare the then next-gen A64 to the current P4. People should wait until each are next-gen and compare those. Pathetic.

- The deafening silence that AMD has followed in the recent past about their future marchitecture leads to two conclusions.
1. They do not have an answer to intel's next gen products like Conroe, they are having problems with moving to 65nm architecture, the move to DDR2 is not giving them any signficant performance improvement even with 800 MHz bus. Blah blah...
2. AMD has a solid answer but they are not yet ready with their toy.
I sincerely hope that 2nd conclusion is true.

According to a part of a slide published at HKEPC web-site, they are code-named Deerhound, Greyhound, Zamora and Cadiz quad-core processors in AMD’s roadmap. Except the Greyhound, the chips are intended for dual-processor or multi-processor server as well as workstation markets.
