Today Samsung unveiled their new SyncMastermagic CX919B 19” LCD monitor. The new monitor boasts a 2000:1 (Dynamic Contrast) contrast ratio and 2ms response time. I could not find any documentation stating whether the response time is gray to gray or if it is black to white. Either way, those are very impressive numbers.

Now all of us gamers can finally run out and replace all of our old CRT monitors. =)

what is a gray to gray response time? 25% gray to 75% gray?

Well unfortunately, that is the problem. There is no standard for measureing gray to gray responce time. Manufacturers can measure it how ever they like. This could be 50% to 51% for all we know. Until the spec sheet is found, your guess is as good as mine.

what exactly is the difference between gray to gray and black to white response time? I thought black to white would take the longest, but some say gray to gray takes longer, which is it/

I would assume that black to white takes longer. When doing black to white you must pass every shade of gray. That's my impression anyways.
