IDT owned Net2Phone filed a lawsuit late Thursday against eBay owned Skype, claiming the p2p VOIP software infringes on one of it's patents. Net2Phone is seeking an injunction and collection of damages according to the suit filed at a federal court in Newark, New Jersey.

The specific patent in question is patent number 6,108,704 which, in basic terms, describes the method in which "a point-to-point Internet protocol exchanges Internet Protocol (IP) addresses between processing units to establish a point-to-point communication link between the processing units through the Internet."

Neither company could be reached for comments.
