Windows Live Messenger will be made available to the public in 8 days, Friday 16th June 2006. The successor to MSN Messenger 7.5, Windows Live Messenger 8 is the first edition of the Messenger brand to be released under the new 'Windows Live' moniker.

Windows Live represents Microsoft's biggest push into the Software-as-a-Service market. Windows Live Messenger is the first software package to be released out of beta in the Windows Live range, with Windows Live Search (Desktop), Windows Live Mail Desktop and Windows Live Toolbar expected to follow later this year.

There is no source, but you know as well as I do, Microsoft does not confirm release dates.

This was first reported by Winfuture.de, not Bink.nu. Check Mess.be. We cannot confirm at this time.

What about th Yahoo integration?
Quote this comment #3.1 Posted by Andy-Roo on 08 Jun 2006 - 23:04
Evidently, this feature is still "coming soon". They would have included the feature in the latest public beta release if they intended to release it in the final version.

Look on http://mess.be/ about the yahoo integration. Also on that site it talks about the release date. Sounds fishy to me.

German tech site WinFuture seems rather confident that the final version of Windows Live Messenger will be launched on June 16th.

The Messenger team doesn't usually communicate release dates, but in case our German neighbours are right we'll have our hands on a new (Y!M-enabled?) version by the end of next week!

The Yahoo! integration should be in this final build that comes out on June 16th

If you take a look at the Messenger Says blog, you'll find that alot more testing needs, key word here, to be done before it's ready.

False, Windows Live OneCare is already out of beta and on store shelves. This damages the entire credibility of this article

If a misprint damages the entire credibility of an article, then I stand to raise my hand that YOU be the one to print all information that comes to this site for news. You seem to be able to walk on water, so I trust that we can rely on you to make any and all statements as solid fact.

By public to you mean out of beta?

I believe so.

Sounds good. If this is true, hopefully Messenger Plus! Live will soon follow WLM's release next week.

I guess the Yahoo! will be inc. in WLM 8.5 or 9, but I wish this info is correct as I formatted my machine and I can wait for the new release rather then install the beta.

Well hopefully it does arrive when advertised.

The current version is not as stable as I expected.

Ditto. Talk about ram hungry bloatware, let alone yet another service having to be loaded if folder sharing is enabled.

Grab the Mess.be patch for the version you are using. There is a ton of options you can use to disable all of Microsoft's "features". Makes the messenger run as clean as version 5. Basically, the patcher has around 15 to 20 options in three different sections to remove any and all that you see running. There are just too many to list here, but it only takes about two to three minutes to run thru the patch.

So, will WLM be available to install via MSN 7.5 with notification after login as usual or separate download?
Quote this comment #17.1 Posted by xMorpheousx416 on 09 Jun 2006 - 20:16
Not sure. But both probably. Right now it's a separate download, but I have installed WLM as a new program since then it was by invite only...so I didn't get a new update notification in 7.5.

Seeing how MSN Messenger 7.x for Windows is pretty bloated, I don't want to know what 8.0 will be like! Oh well. At least Microsoft Messenger for Mac (5.1.1) is pretty clean. Still, I'm curious about when the next update of Messenger for Mac will be available.
