- You people mean June 16
I'm fine with the beta, they should take their time and release it when it deserves to be released. -

- Yet another MS delay....

-
#2.1 Posted by Stebet on 12 Jun 2006 - 12:18
- How the hell do you delay something that hasn't gotten a release date yet?
-
#2.2 Posted by markjensen on 12 Jun 2006 - 14:01
- Never announce a release date, and you can never be late.

- I'm usually one of those guys to rip apart a beta because of all the bugs still found in it (despite it being beta), but other than high memory usage, which is common in MSN Messenger anyway, I have found the latest live messenger beta to be quite solid! Like Deathray said, "I'm fine with the beta . . . " and they'll release it when they feel comfortable.

- Who on earth took that silly, non-confirmed report as fact to begin with? This really shouldn't be a surprise because Microsoft never said it was true.

- I expect the final stable release to be October follwed by 25 mb of updates.
Opps that was XP.
Seriously, I hope when they pull their socks up and release the final version, they get rid of that blob icon in the notification area.
I am not worried when it will be released, that, it's working good rather than having to reinstall itself sometimes during login.

Just wait and relax.

- 06/16? Can we please have international dates with the name of the month spelt out, as in the UK that would be the 6th of the 16th month (which doesn't exist)... thankfully in this case I can work out that it's the 6th June, however other dates could be very confusing.

- I agree with you that dates should spell out the month. Though usually I see the reverse, I see international dates and get confused because its not how we do it in the US. Then again why does the US have to do everything opposite everyone else?

+ for international dates, things should be more universal
Did you know they drive cars in the opposite lane in UK
Seems like the Ukanians are doing it opposite.

which to me seems like a good reason never to put them on the main page? just a thought.

- "They simply have the habit of slipping beyond their own target dates."
He meant " We simply love to speculate without knowing anything direct from Microsoft. Speculating, speculating, and guessing release dates for our own good and self ego of -knowing it all- without really knowing anything.
I'm not Microsoft fanboy, I dont go for any corporation at all in this business, I'm just tired of having to listen to such comments when we are the ones who start guessing release dates without even knowing anything for sure...

Did you really confuse it? The 6th day of the 16th month? -
#15.2 Posted by theyarecomingforyou on 12 Jun 2006 - 22:23
- Obviously not in this case but it unnecessary and it is simple to avoid. This is a site that caters to international users and so it would be better for everyone if the date was spelled out, so as to avoid any potential confusion - the way it was written struck me as very forced and completely unnecessary.

- Dear Windows Live Messenger Beta Tester,
As we get closer to the final release of Windows Live Messenger 8.0, it is time that the managed beta come to a close. Thank you for all your wonderful contributions to this beta and for putting the voice of the customer into our best version of Messenger yet. Here are few of the many areas where your feedback made a difference:
• Improved sign-in performance. Thanks to your feedback, Windows Live Messenger 8.0 has the fastest sign-in of any version of Messenger.
• New UI and color changing. After many tries, your feedback helped us "get it right."
• Great new features such as Sharing Folders, Offline IM and Live Contacts. You found many great bugs that improved the quality of each of these.
• Overall quality. Your relentless testing and reporting of memory leaks, crashes and UI glitches greatly improved this version of Messenger.

- Before that Quote -Hi everyone,
We needed to take a quick moment to apologize. As you know, last week http://connect.microsoft.com was upgraded. An unfortunate side-effect of that upgrade was the sudden disconnection of the Feedback mechanism and our internal tools for tracking and working with all of your feedback.
We are still trying to work with what you've submitted, but, admittedly, the tools for working with the feedback as it is currently stored are not the best. While we've been working under the hood to directly look at your feedback and dealing with issues as we can, it is obviously running slower than usual.
Believe me, we aren't ignoring your feedback. The essence of a good beta *is* feedback. While we do not have an ETA for when the situation will be resolved, we don't want to ask you to stop submitting feedback. What you submitted on Saturday, when this all started, will end up in our tools. What you submit tomorrow will end up in our tools. It is just a temporary roadblock.
Despite the lack of an ETA, we are pushing this issue hard to get resolved. We want to get things fixed as much as you do, both in the beta softwares and the software to run the betas.
If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to email your beta contacts, or post to the beta newsgroups.
The Windows Live Beta Team
I'm not too sad it's over, there'll be another soon enough. Besides, with MSN7 beta they shipped out free £50 webcams to the testers, i hope they are so generous this time

It's anybodies guess as to the reason -one thing is certain, Microsoft release dates are not officially announced for a reason. They simply have the habit of slipping beyond their own target dates.
