On Monday, Microsoft released a new build of Windows Vista, the successor to the aging Windows XP, to technical beta testers, TAP customers, and MSDN subscribers. The interim build, build 5472, is intended to give testers a more recent build, and encourage application and device driver developers to accelerate deployment on Vista.

Quality and performance enhancements are the primary changes in 5472, along with further tweaks to User Account Control. The new build is the second to follow Beta 2, and will not be released to Customer Preview Program participants. Microsoft expects to deliver the next public release of Windows Vista, Release Candidate 1, later this quarter.

This new build doesnt exist yet..... people who were quick to click the download link would have noticed A: it comes up as not found or B: it was of the wrong build anyway (linked to one that was already dropped to testers)..... honestly people, remove your heads from your hindquarters. Anyone who's downloading right now, read your download managers.... youre downloading 5456

Naturally, this comes out when I stayed late at the office.. Servers are getting hammered already and Connect is acting up. We're in for a fun night. Glad I picked up a fresh bag of soy crisps.

So far so good for me. The performance is much improved over previous builds.

Big deal!. Not going to be able to afford Vista Ultimate when it comes out anyway. Even the uprade. Suse 10.1 with XP dual boot suits me just fine now and in the future. Will keep Linux updated though. I can afford that. Just my opinion though. No flame wars.

Suse 10.1 or Ubuntu
