Uhm, you can already chat to Yahoo! contacts. ^a-patch for this version has been released.

Notice the different verbage between what you wrote and what the post says. Post says: ...use WLM to talk to..., you say: ...you can already chat to... Big difference there.
#4.2 epple on 09 Aug 2006 - 16:31
"..with Voice.." As in talking, not typing... :p

I found that some offline messages have sent as emails!! Is this a bug? It's quite annoying especially if I'm in a conversation with someone and they disconnect suddenly for whatever reason.
#7.1 dh5 on 09 Aug 2006 - 12:02
That's only happened to me once, so i guess it probably is a bug

#8.1 danilloOc on 09 Aug 2006 - 13:18
I have the same problem, and just dropped WLM for now, I'm back to Trillian till they release a version the works right.
#8.2 Minchino on 09 Aug 2006 - 16:08
Under Options > Security > have you tried unchecking "This is a shared computer so don't store my address book, display picture or personal message on it". Just a thought.

I'm guessing this is a final release and Google Talk is still a beta. Also, popularity, I'm sure more people are currently using messenger, so it makes sense that the most... common news would be in the main section.

That's how i see it
#11.2 Grandaevus on 09 Aug 2006 - 12:17
Yeah, I know, just poiting it out. But keep in mind that Beta means nothing in Googleland. Even Gmail that has been around a while is still in beta.
#11.3 Smigit on 09 Aug 2006 - 14:59
Well Gtalk really isnt all that widely used compared to other clients. Just look how rampant people here get over new MSN releases. As for betas, it may not mean alot in google land but elsewhere it may (not necesasarily here mind you, but perhaps for businesses ect) so if people do treat it different because it is beta then I suppose thatst he risk google takes. That said they'll leave beta eventually...one day.

ARGH!! I wish I could download the english version. Everytime it offers me up the french version, http://g.msn.com/8reen_us/EN_NOUS/INSTALL_...ESSENGER_DL.EXE

Simply because I'm in Canada.
#12.1 metalguy90 on 09 Aug 2006 - 13:01
copy and paste this link into your browser:
http://g.msn.com/8reen_us/EN/INSTALL_MSN_MESSENGER_DL.EXE

that'll work.
#12.2 Patchou on 09 Aug 2006 - 21:57
Go to your internet options, click Languages and add the English language as the top entry, that will probably fix it.
#12.3 Morpheus Phreak on 10 Aug 2006 - 07:00
Umm that is the english version that you posted Logan.

Check the link very carefully.

It says EN_NOUS

That means English, Non US Version.

French would start with FR
#13 CrisCr0ss on 09 Aug 2006 - 12:48
yea google need to finalize their things. I mean Gmail is no longer BETA imo. However I have no use for GoogleTalk. MSN works great for me.
#14 Meraklis56 on 09 Aug 2006 - 12:50

Sooo... Is there a change log yet?
#22 rev23dev on 11 Aug 2006 - 15:51
Change log from their blog..

As of yesterday, a new version of Messenger 8.0 is now ready for your downloading pleasure - version 8.0.0812. Think of this release just like that little dash of salt on your big delicious breakfast. Almost nothing has changed to the perceptible eye – but enough to make a difference. Specifically:

- Many people will notice serious improvements to the quality of audio and video

- Fewer messenger crashes, hangs, and connectivity issues.

The Tale of one (now fixed) Bug In Messenger

Over the past few months “error 80004005 – Can’t Log In” had become our #1 customer support issue. A few dedicated customers (some of whom posted their findings to this blog! discovered a correlation:

“Before I got this error, I had just changed my friendly name to something REALLY long w/ emoticons.”

That was the key! In messenger, we have a max-length for friendly names. When you sign-in, we check to make sure your friendly name is under this max. But we were calculating the length in two different ways:

Say limit is 6 characters per friendly name. Messenger would let me type “LeahJ” no problem, because it was counting the whole emoticon as one character, and thus my friendly name was 5 characters total. But the next time I tried to sign-in, Messenger would do a check which would count each character of the emoticon separately and thus “Leah:-)” added up to 7 characters, which is over the max limit of 6. Error.

Thanks to the customers who stuck with us to help identify the problem. We couldn’t have done it without you! Now everyone – go get the latest version – it’s good for you!

yeah, now video chat doesn't work. Was working fine before that version. Can send webcam, can receive, can send voice and receive but if I press make a call, crash! (not msn, the entire pc with blue screen). Last version work better
