Windows Live Writer is a desktop application that makes it easier to compose compelling blog posts using Windows Live Spaces or your current blog service. Blogging has turned the web into a two-way communications medium. Our goal in creating Writer is to help make blogging more powerful, intuitive, and fun for everyone.

Writer has lots of features which we hope make for a better blogging experience. Some of the ones we are most excited about include WYSIWYG authoring, photo publishing, map publishing, Writer SDK and compatibility.

Works great, even with Wordpress.

I'm surprised but please that Microsoft added support for 3rd party blogging software.

No, it doesn't work well. I'm using Live Spaces and image margins are totally ignored.

Word 2007 also support blog, and it is faster than live writer.

tried it with Word2007, couldnt get it to work, think it has something to do with the change in their spaces URL's after 2007 came out

great stuff ... doesn't work.

Keep trying to publish and comes up as a network error ... had to resort to the 'old fashioned' way of visiting my blog and publishing from there. nice one !

worked well then but Unfortunatly it didnt allow me to set my blogs categories...not that I could see anyway.

I've been able to set the category for my posts, there's a drop down box to the right of the formatting toolbar to set the category.

very nice.. decided to go back to blogging.. this makes it much more easier to work with blogs.
works fine with blogspot/blogger

I can't set it to work with my blogger account.

I signed up the beta using google account.

It looks and works great; editing blogs in WordPress is very easy and it allows you to add all types of HTML codes which are difficult to get done with the normal editor, It also has built in FTP capabilities to be able to upload images to your server etc, really really very well done!

Great - for the first time I spent time writting a massive blog on wordpress (nice layout etc) only to find I can't publish it as t comes up with network error. :@

yeah same thing here too .. been trying to publish to my spaces.live.com blog and network error every time ... seems others have the same error on the http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/ blog .. no substantive responses from microsoft yet though ...

some "killer app" ! .. lol ... patch for the network error please, microsoft

I've been using it for the last two days and I like it a lot, the interface is very similar to a cut down version of Word, which I've been using for years now so I liked that, and the easily adding of pictures and maps into your blog entry is really neat.

The other great feature is it downloads the style of your blog and mimics it allowing you to see how exactly your entry would show up when posted.

So far I like it a lot, plus it has an SDK allowing for further extensibility.

I downloaded and installed this great software.
It works without any eroors for me

,I dont know why many of you got errors.
It is the best desktop blog client,I have tried w.bloggar before but like this one this
is neat tidy and has some great fetures too.
