According to a German Blog, Microsoft could be releasing Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2 to the public today.

Microsoft has not released any updates or product information for WMP11 for sometime now and those using the public beta have been anxious for an updated build or timeframe.

Although we cannot confirm the rumours, it would be a good time to release an update as many have experienced issues with portable devices and performance in WMP11.

I'll be looking foward to getting my hands on an excellent product, but I wont hold my breath. If they release a new version, Excellent, but if they dont, the word never came from Microsoft themselves so It wont be as "Heartbreaking."

I hope it's true. While I love WMP it does have a problem or two in it's B1 form that I hope will have been addressed. Nice player but.

Very cool! It'll be nice to see how it runs with some bugs fixed. I also hope they've polished the layout/look a bit in beta 2.

Mmm...
I hope there's gonna be some surprise features.
Podcast support could be great.
Now back to my dreams...

It already plays Podcasts. Media Player has been able to play streaming media for a long time now.

This is exactly what Microsoft do, just like Apple. Don't tell offically about release dates. Keep them as surprises, and you get less blame.

I hope there's an x64 version this time.

I appreciate a new build is due, but why is the link to a german blog on msn spaces? Since when have random blog articles been considered an authority?

You have a very good point there.... Mmm....

I'll put my hand up for a new update. While WMP11 works nicely, I do experience extreme lag when using the hyped Urge service or switching between Now Playing and the library.

I wonder if this will break Fairuse4WM?!?!

Probably will... Someone let me know!

AFAIK, WMP (or any other WM capable player) and FairUse4WM have NOTHING to do with each other.

They do... That is where it pulls the key from. HEnce it doesn't work with Version 9 of WMP and some variants of ver. 11

One word: ID3V2.4
That's just about the only feature I'm missing... though I must admit that Podcast support for Media Center would be great!

I hope it's not just going to be a bugfix release...

WMP11 looks odd in XP. I want more customization options!

UI is much better.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD BETA2. It is a complete mess. There is a serious problem with the Library and the way WMP reads the ID3 tag. Back up you music if you decided to install it.

Any backup for this?
Quote this comment #19.2 Posted by :: Lyon :: on 01 Sep 2006 - 00:06
This must be because WMP by default option, if you remove a song from your library, it will delete the actual file in your harddrive. (Just make sure after you install to turn off this option!!

Not an issue here at all. If you are having an issue just say what the issue is rather than a big generalisation like "it doesnt work", all it does is get people over problems they likely wont encounter and the lack of info means they dont know what to look for anyway. If the problem is what you stated in the following post bellow this then thats what you should have posted initially. Also it's annoying when people make their messages bold and in red, as if what they have to say is more important than other users posts.

I havent had a single issue at all nor would MS release this if it was a problem that would happen every time.

No, it doesn't support compressed ID tag anymore. So most of your music are unplayable and WMP 11 Beta 2 can't read the ID3 correctly

itunes for life ! just like internet explorer 7 is turning out to be a complete piece of rubbish so is WMP11, sorry Microsoft but im fed up of your boring uninspiring interfaces and your inability to fix the most simplest of bugs within your products. On top of that the features which have proven themself in previous verisons of a product you insist on taking away in newer versions.
Quote this comment #21.1 Posted by superhuman on 01 Sep 2006 - 01:04
You can't say IE7 is a rubbish. It is a good browser.

I agree with you on WMP11 Beta2. They can't make Library and Tagging function work well.

it wont even let me install.. downloaded it and then the setup tells me a component was not downloaded... it asks to redownload.. tried that but no luck...

this only works for american citizens apparently.. "Beta 2 is now available for our U.S. customers and includes a new Media Sharing feature, as well as improvements to the Beta 1 release that are based on your feedback. Learn more about Beta 2 updates." - Microsoft.com WHY???????????

Beta 2 has 2 problems here: Frist it only is playing one song at a time then stoping orther word it will not play a song and go to the next.

Second : it will not go to the next song when you click forward.

WMP11 Seems to take up alot or resources. I get choppy game play when playing tft and playing music. WMP10 never did that.

otherwise. Looking good here
