Thanks AnimaL for posting that The Vista.ru is reporting that a new build of Windows Vista RC1 has been released to a select number of testers.

This follows last weeks RC1 build 5728 release to testers, MSDN and the public. There is no further information on exactly who got the build, most likely TAP.

and here are the build stamps..

TAP supposedly get builds like once a week. I hope Neowin doesn't get into the habit of notifying everyone of a build that they can't have .

Why do you even care right now? Graphical support for NVidia cards sucks anyway!

so, is MS scared to start incrementing the RC # for fear that Windows Vista won't be released until RC25 or something ridiculous like that? Any other software maker would increment the RC # for each new build they release to testers.

Wrong.

It's far easier to maintain branches; e.g. Beta_1, Beta_2, RC_1, RC_2, RTM, etc...

Of corse i'm "wrong" and thanks for elaborating. What I meant was most software makers would increment the RC # for each new build they release to testers. But thanks for taking the time and typing 6 characters.

Wrong again. Are you a software developer?

I am, and I can tell you the company I work for does not incriment our "milestones" on each build. Nor do any of the partners we work with.

These aren't milestone releases. They're releases that are taking checked-in code (i.e. changed code), merging it, and doing a build (i.e. to binary)

No reason to incriment the milestone for that.

last build until RTM??
#5.1 Slugsie on 28 Sep 2006 - 09:48
Nope, more builds to come. Tech Beta testers are due at least one more, and certain TAP testers will continue to get a build roughly every week.

Vista Builds for some. Miniature american flags for others!
