Microsoft Research turns 15

Microsoft Research held an event at Microsoft's Redmond, in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Chairman and co-founder Bill Gates appeared via video to applaud the organization. On Tuesday, the research team demonstrated innovative technologies still in development. Not all these technologies make it into actual products but certain recent ones will be included in Windows Vista.

Founded in 1991, Microsoft Research has innovated many breakthroughs and insights, invented new technology as well as provided grants to help promote IT research in universities. It has more than 700 researches at five laboratories across the globe.
