We know that YouTube has had informal talks with a number of companies about acquisition in the $1.5 - $2 billion range. And I suspect Google won’t be daunted by the prospect of dealing with a ton of ****ed off copyright holders.

TechCrunch wrote: "I got an email tonight about a possible Google acquisition of YouTube that may be in the final stages before closing. Rumored price is $1.6 billion. A quick phone call to a VC confirmed that the rumor is circulating (he also confirmed the price), but that is far from confirmation that this deal is happening. I’m digging for more but the source on this one is very good."

I begin to hate google.
The bigger they become, the leser they care about the users.
Google has lost its coolness so long time...

This works for me. . . they will just assimilate all the youtube videos into google video, or perhaps scrap the current google video, and it will be google youtube from now on. I can't see this as a bad thing, this could only help google with regards to the internet video market.

I personally like google, although I may be a little bias due to the google stocks I have. I hope thier future continues to be strong.

Google continues to grow stronger each day. This is a great move on their part.

And the slow assimilation of the World Wide Web by Google begins! What is your asking price Neobond? If YouTube is worth 1.6 billion, Neowin must be worth double that.

jeje if that happens it would be good news, more google power to fight microsoft, aol and yahoo

Are you kidding? It takes nothing to fight AOL. Just say "AOL" and watch people run and scream in horror.

Hmm. Google was cool when it was a webpage with a logo, search bar, and two buttons for searching.

google owns a lot of stuff right now - but do they buy it with actual cash, or is it all borrowed?
#11 DigitalDude on 06 Oct 2006 - 22:03
Can they actually technically do this? Isn't googlevideo and youtube kinda in competition?.... not that I'm totally against the idea as long as youtube stays the way it is now...

imo Youtube> googlevideo soo they better not f*ck it up
#13 em_te on 08 Oct 2006 - 11:24
This isn't as big as it sounds according to the WSJ.

They're just buying into a whole load of aggrivation tbh.
