Activesync is replaced by this WMDC for vista.

Totally new way to handle mobile devices now, check out loads of screenshots at my blog I am using my Imate Kjam

Does this version allow you to save a password for devices with a pin on them?

One thing that got really annoying really quickly for me with the Vista Beta 2 implementation of WMDC was that it didn't have an option to save your password like ActiveSync does for devices with pin / keypad locks.

So what about my older toshiba e330 that runs windows 2002? With no support for AS anymore and no support for WMDC in regards to a legacy os, how do I get my toshiba to sync with outlook in vista?

i have a e740 i can't get mine to work either so i went back to XP but now i can't get it to work with media player 11 since that has gone to beta 2....

I am not staying on XP just because my PPC won't sync. But it would have been nice for some legacy support. A lot of people still use windows 2002

yes i dont understand why its necessary to shut off 2002 users. its not that the new program doesnt support it, but they are blocking old programs that do.

flae_qui i have the e740, it would work fine if toshiba wasnt being stupid and released a ROM update for 2003

Anybody know how to make Vista launch WMDC by default when a device is plugged in? The only options that pop up for autoplay are launch Windows Media, launch Explorer, View Photos, and Take No Action.

The following things really annoy me about the whole thing:
  • Outlook doesn't use Windows Contacts
  • Outlook doesn't use Windows Calendar
  • Windows Calender/Contacts/Mail don't sync, only Outlook

Has anyone been able to get this to work in RC2?

It looks appealing. ActiveSync never felt matured and had several underlying issues.

It says its syncing only its not updating my contacts, appointments on Outlook 2007. Anyone else having this problem or is it working for them? I have a PPC Windows 2003 edition.

it still seams like its in need of a lot of work in this Beta. Both the device center and the Sync center seem to work iffily at best. It doesn't have convert functions available yet (when you copy a word file to your PPC, it leaves it in word format (and unusable via the ppc obviously).

And I can't get it to sync, inbox, contacts, and calendar via pc sync, only server sync (not that its a problem, as that is how I want it work), but I'm sure most users don't have exchange servers running out of their house, so I'm not in the norm hear.

I'm sure it will all get worked out when it gets worked out, just know if you are going to try it, it IS definitely still in beta form.
