Once again the search giant Google has acquired an employer from “the opponent”. Justin Uberti was the lead developer of AOL’s Instant Messenger. AIM Triton and Open AIM could not have been without his nine years of work at AOL. Google’s thoughts are clear: Google Talk needs work. Google and AOL have already come to an agreement to link their IM networks, much like Yahoo and Microsoft. One small step for Google … you get the picture.

Ha ha ha, I don't think any company considers AOL enough of a threat to call them an "opponent".

MS and Yahoo saw them as enough of a threat to connect their networks in an attempt to boost usage rates to try and catch up to AOL Instant Messenger.
