Advanced Micro Devices has unveiled more details concerning its forthcoming chips that will include both central processing and graphics processing capabilities. Apparently, the processors currently referred to as Fusion will still fit into AMD’s open infrastructure and may be complimented by other chips. Nevertheless, certain Fusion models will be made tailored for specific needs.

Fusion processors – chips that combine AMD’s strength in x86 microprocessors development and ATI Technologies’ expertise in creation of advanced graphics processors – are projected to be made using 45nm process technology and are expected to emerge commercially in late 2008/early 2009. The company expects to use them within all of the company’s priority computing categories, including laptops, desktops, workstations and servers, as well as in consumer electronics and solutions tailored for the unique needs of emerging markets, according to AMD.

I'm sorry to nag, but "may be complimented by other chips" should be complemented.

No, it shouldn't. According to http://www.m-w.com, both spellings are equally correct.

actually, "compliment" has never been an accepted spelling alternative to "complement".

What Merriam Webster means is that "complement" used to be an alternative spelling to "compliment", as in to compliment someone on their clothing. However, this spelling alternative is obsolete.

The name is too similar to VIA's "CoreFusion".
But who cares about VIA's CPUs? Their CPUs are less clock effecient than the Pentum 4s in some cases...

I love AMD news. I can't wait to see the specs in full detail.

The new FX-74 sounds bad ass. 3.0 Ghz. :-)

well cpu advancement its great but GPU no company focus on heat and energy only in performance lets hope this change in a future

Are your brains dripping out of your ears? What are you two talking about?

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 3 years, you should know that better performance per watt = lower heat emmisions.

Just because you're an Idiot, I'll let that pass.

Do a little research and thinking first. I'm too lazy to explain to an imbecile right now.

Does anyone even know what this is suppose to do that will be so special over the integrated chip on the motherboard? It seems like it will limit the users ability to upgrade.

Although it would be nice if it was comparable to PCI-Express video cards, but agressively pricing the product and obviously a solid design will be key to convincing people to adopt this tech.
