The competition is really heating up in the 30-inch display space. Dell keeps slashing its own 3007WFP prices to ridiculous extremes (we just spotted it for $1,274 on Dell's own site), Apple finally got its 30-incher under two grand in August, and now HP is busting out its own aggressively priced option for full pixel assault.

We've already spent plenty of time geeking out over the LP3065's specs, so the real news here is that HP is offering the display for $1,699, and it's already been spotted on PC Mall for $1,629, so there seems to be some flex to that price tag. HP is estimating a ship date of November 11th, and while there might not be much to differentiate HP's offering from the pack -- though a trio of dual-link DVI-D ports does sound intriguing -- it's good to see someone else in the US break the $2,000 barrier.

I just started checking out Engadget daily, and while I like hardware-centric news and such...Im getting very aggrevated with their overuse of the phrase "BUSTING OUT"... with every other headline reading "so-and-so busting out this and that" or "blah blah busts out their blah blah". It's very annoying, and seems to be headed by one submitter named Darren Murph.
So I hate that guy.

But cool about the monitor; would like to soon see some with tv capability built in.

Eh, Native Resolution: 1280 x 1024, My 17" native res is that much, surely the 30" would be nearly twice as much. Is this actually a monitor or a tv... Or am i missing something.

1000:1 contrast ratio, 2560 x 1600 pixels, 92 percent color gamut, 178 x 178 degree viewing angles, three dual-link DVI-D inputs and two dual-link DVI cables -- and has a respectable brightness of 300 nits.

It would cost about 3 times as much as my actual computer costs

too expensive ;p maybe in 10 years could be at $200 dollars

Well, I suppose this will knock a few bucks off the 25" displays.

Just do what the cad guy does here and use an LG 32" LCD Monitor sure it looks big and bad but it gets the job done.

What resolution does that use though? Every 32" LG LCD screen (TV and/or Monitor) I've seen have been a maximum of 1366 x 768... most 12.1" laptop screens have a better resolution.
