Amid all the hoopla surrounding the iPhone and Apple TV introduction, Apple quietly introduced Jan. 9 an updated AirPort Extreme wireless networking base station that supports the IEEE 802.11n draft specification. Although Apple CEO Steve Jobs didn't even mention the product in his keynote speech Jan. 9 at the annual Macworld Conference and Expo here , the new AirPort Extreme product will ship in February with a price of $179. Apple has already started accepting orders for the device. The new AirPort Extreme will be a vital component of Apple's TV strategy.
Use of the 802.11n specification means the AirPort Extreme can stream data on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wavelengths, at transfer speeds of up to 540Mbits/sec—theoretically 10 times faster than 802.11g. This could enable streaming of HD media from a computer wirelessly to an Apple TV unit for display on a living room TV screen. Apple also claims a wider coverage area for the new model, as well as backward compatibility with existing 802.11b and 802.11g products. For physical connectivity, the AirPort Extreme will feature one USB 2.0 port for a printer or external hard drive (which can be shared between computers on the local network), a WAN port for a DSL or cable modem and three 10/100 LAN ports.

Way to innovate Apple! $179 for an 802.11n router when your competitors have been selling them for months at much cheaper prices...way to go.
Let me guess, you're going to claim you invented 802.11n as well?
Did apple ever claim they were first to market or they invented it? No (sounds more like you made it up). And until now none of their products used the standard so why would they have a Draft-n router? Please think before you run your mouth off. Apple released an updated router to complement their AppleTV package. I guess the truth is a little bit too much for you. A shame.

The funny thing is that you didn't actually have any "truth" in that comment. Apple has claimed countless times to have created things that clearly have already existed for years, but that is obviously due to Apple's reality distortion field.
I was laughing at the fact that 802.11n has been around for months, and yet when Apple gets around to updating their router (that no one really uses anyways) it suddenly is a important frontpage news for the fanboys. As for the price, it's also funny because it's way more expensive than it needs to be (take a look at the competition), just because it has a shiny Apple logo on the front.
I just find all of this funny, but feel free to get defensive fanboys.

Price isn't always a factor... maybe you have too much cash in your wallet either way I think you should refrain from talking down to someone where the cost of items is concerned.
That router is an over priced waste of space. Why oh WHY didn't they add a gigabit switch into the station instead of 10/100? You can buy an Asus router for less, with a built in BT client and web serving capabilities...
Apple have messed up here, along with their precious iPhone.
I was holding out high hopes for both...
I get the impression the OP was being sarcastic
