Nick White, Product Manager at Microsoft working on the Windows Vista launch team and Featured Communities leader has posted up the pricing for the Anytime Upgrade option available from within Windows when you buy a version of Vista lesser than "Ultimate".
On January 30th Windows Anytime Upgrade will allow customers to purchase and download a digital key to upgrade to a more feature-rich edition of Windows Vista. The user will then complete the upgrade process by inserting the Windows Vista DVD that came with their PC or with their retail purchase of Windows Vista. The program will be available in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan.
The pricing is as follows:

But Microsoft's lack of caring for other countries is making me look for dodgey (but not illegal) ways of obtaing Vista copies for my Mother's and Brother's PCs.
If the EU didn't sue them to hell and back, and our country wasn't run by tax-heavy idiots - Microsoft might give a crap.
On January 30 they won't be broken.

It seem like it cost you more in the long run
Home Basic --> Home Premium: $99+$79=$178 cost you $21 more
Home Basic --> Ultimate: $99+$199=$298 cost you $39 more
Home Premium --> Ultimate: $159+$159=$318 cost you $59 more
Business --> Ultimate: $199+$139=$338 cost you $79 more
Note that Ultimate upgrade retail price is only, $259.00
While we're talking about upgrading, can you use the upgrade disc from an OEM version of XP? And If you can, I take it after the upgrade, you will still have an OEM license, so cannot upgrade the motherboard or whatever?
Lets see Full Home $199 plus it going cost you $79 just upgrade to Home Premium = $278 when Full ver Home Premium only cost $239 so if you go that there way it up cost you $39 more then full ver that you buy at store so how you fig you save anthing.
But guest if was a OEM PC upgrade which all ready has perinstall which you pay any way then that some what a good deal.
But then againe I would never by a OEM PC any way.

Not bad if i get my free Business in the mail from it would only cost me $139 to go Ultimate. I want Ultimate for MCE but i may hold off and see what other PVR programs come out then I will see if I need to upgrade.
to beat this to death to for the purpose of having a perpetual Vista headline.
