Vodafone to Launch Video Service

YouTube, Google Video, MSN Soapbox, Break, Vimeo, Jumpcut, Blip, Metacafe, Revver, iFilm and now, whatever Vodafone decides to call it’s new “Web 2.0” video service for its Live mobile phone portal. The service will be launched at the Cebit trade show in Hanover, Germany, in March. It will offer customers with camera-enabled handsets to take videos and upload them, either via MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service ) or WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). Vodafone customers will be able to access the Live portal using PCs as well as mobile phones.

Vodaphone is planning to pay its users based on the number of times their videos are downloaded.

#2 Posted by cashman on 24 Jan 2007 - 19:49: Pretty much the same as See Me TV on the three network. Users get paid 1 or 2 p per download from that service. Some of the users have made over £10k out of the service. So very popular indeed.

#4 Posted by cashman on 24 Jan 2007 - 20:45: On SeeMeTV you have to pay to download and watch a movie, but most 3G users get given an allowance as part of their contract. Mine is £5 a month. Users submit anything from funny videos to them completely stripping off. Costs about 10p a video to download. At the moment the main pick is someone squeezing into a tumble dryer....quality...
