We spend a good half hour discussing the gadgets the editorial felt you shouldn't buy. There's actually some good content if you give it a listen. Also, you have to remember, even though we always tend to run over, I only want this to be about a 40 minute show, for the sake of editing and the like.
#1.2 Sniper101 on 24 Feb 2007 - 20:53
Yer i can see now how it all fit in now bangbang, the editorial is good even though i have Vista :p the rest i will stay away from.

As an added bonus this week, the feed should be working again, so those of you that have subscribed to the podcast in whatever program should have it download automatically
#3.1 vetbangbang023 on 24 Feb 2007 - 20:24
Thank you for that, Dave.

Do people accually download and listen to this?

I don't mean that in a offending/insulting way.
#4.1 Harreh on 24 Feb 2007 - 20:46
Yes, I am currently downloading the show right now.
#4.2 Sniper101 on 24 Feb 2007 - 20:49
Well yer obcoure we do, it's nice to get the staff's opinion each week on main topics. Plus some people might put the casts on there Ipod, Mobile Phones, MP3 Players etc etc for the travel to work or were ever they are going.
#4.3 Al on 24 Feb 2007 - 21:15
Yes, I'm listening to it now Its interesting to hear a discussion (with opposing views as well) then to just read the news or talk on the forums.
#4.4 vetbangbang023 on 24 Feb 2007 - 21:19
It's the same idea as talk radio. Some people enjoy it, some don't. Going in, we knew it would have limited appeal, but it's something I have always felt would be a contribution to the content offerings of Neowin. Over these 21 shows, we'ce refined things a lot, too. If anyone has heard every show, they can tell you how much better it is now. We're looser and more relaxed. We don't take ourselves too seriously, basically, lol.
#4.5 +Jimmy0 on 24 Feb 2007 - 22:17
It has been a while since I have downloaded an episode, but having just listened to this one and discovering it was better than I thought - I will certainly be downloading them more often.

I'd agree with that chris. I've listened to nearly every podcast, and its got better every week lol. (well apart from the laptop battery of doom bits lol, they were probably the best ones :laugh. And with rob swearing on near enough every edition he's in, I think its obvious you have a laugh lol.

Again, great podcast guys.

I do agree about the 10 megapixel camera thing. I have a 4 MP camera which is around 3 years old now, and its fine for what I want it to do (just to take pics when I'm on holidays for us to store on the PC). If your a professional photographer, then maybe yes, but for the average consumer, there's no point.

#7.1 salis on 25 Feb 2007 - 20:15
Just noticed that, very nice!
#7.2 Rob on 25 Feb 2007 - 21:04
Heh yes, a little addition I decided to have a play with.
#7.3 Harreh on 25 Feb 2007 - 22:32
I like it (Y).

The blue clashes with the red/pink background of the news post though. And does it change for other designs? (Green, etc)

Could do with a volume slider .
#7.4 Marduk on 26 Feb 2007 - 03:58
Its very handy and a great additions, I bet it'll help the attach rate with such ease of access.

aaah i see, i take it this is over skype or something? i've never actually listened, this is my first time.
#8.3 Rob on 25 Feb 2007 - 21:23
Because of issues with background noise, we use Ventrilo - this has automatic sensing when people are speaking so it both cuts down on bandwidth as you're not constantly sending background noise, and also improves audio quality.

Chris sounds like that gamer guy Fatality.
#9.1 vetbangbang023 on 25 Feb 2007 - 22:44

Didn't notice the sidebar one. Nice touch.

I think that this will actually bring more listeners in because the main reason why I didn't listen to PowerUser.TV was because I couldn't be bothered going to another page to download the show.
#10.3 Rob on 25 Feb 2007 - 22:58
Aye that's what I figured, so I set about finding a nice free Flash implementation. In time I may hack the Flash source to further customise it but for now I think it works quite well.
#11 driz on 25 Feb 2007 - 23:05
@ Rob

Anyone else notice when you hover over the HD-DVD wording and ad for Sony's BluRay (via intellitext) appears?
