NVIDIA touts three dedicated video engines on the G84 and G86-based graphics cards, providing MPEG-2 high-definition and WMV HD video playback up to resolutions of 1080p. G84 and G86 support hardware accelerated decoding of H.264 video as well (no mention of VC-1 decoding). G84 and G86 also feature advanced post-processing video algorithms. Supported algorithms include spatial-temporal de-interlacing, inverse 2:2, 3:2 pull-down and 4-tap horizontal, and 5-tap vertical video scaling.

Kind of annoying. I'm looking a getting a new PC and I'd prefer to get a low-end DirectX 10 card if possible.
That info has been reported on several sites and seems to be legit. Prices are supposed to be ~$250 for the GTS and ~$150 for the GT. They're replacing the 7600 GT and the 7950.
I'm wondering if the low end 8800 that's going for ~$300 now might not be a better choice than the GTS? Prices on it should come down a little more by then AFAIK.

HDCP should be required since it's here to stay and why not have it.. that just limits you to not being able to watch HDDVD & Blu-ray. It's stupid not to have HDCP now.

Both HD-DVD and BD are cracked, so I can watch movies ripped from them any way I want. Don't need HDCP or HDMI.
So limit your options, that's fine. The legal folk are just a little bit smarter about it.

It needs a PCIe cable from the PSU. The card isn't external, but it needs more power than the PCIe slot can provide.
This isn't new, it's been this way for a while now. My 7900 GTO needs a PCIe power cable too.

I've still got an ATI X850XT PE (Love it) Thats nearly a couple of years old and that requires a 6-wire plug from the PSU or a spare molex (exactly the same as the current 8000 series... that might need 2 molex?!?! )
CPU's on the other hand use lower and lower power, while GPU's just seem to skyrocket.
