Intel will showcase its next-generation Penryn 45nm processor at the upcoming Computex 2007 (June 5-9) trade show, while AMD will also demonstrate its native Quad-Core Opteron processors (Barcelona), during the show, according to sources.

The two companies will only show the products at their own booths, added the sources.

Although AMD has already delayed the launch of its Barcelona processor to June from May, the company stated the product will still hit the market in 2007. AMD plans to launch native quad-core processor for desktop use in the third quarter, said the sources.

The company aims to ship one million native quad-core processors for server and desktop use in 2007, noted the sources.

Actually..

a) they aren't - NO 45nm intel chips are out yet.

b) On process size, Amd has beaten intel for many years.

Remember when you go to a new smaller gate process you have to test it using your existing designs so you get a die shrink x nm to y nm. Once thats all working then you get the REAL cpu designed for that process. Anyhow that means the k10 will be 65nm answer to the 65nm c2d.

contradicting yourself.
if you say the k10 WILL be the answer to intels 65 nm chips. at the same time saying intels 45's arent out yet so they arent ahead of amd by a generation... how does that work out, i don't get it.

since the k10 ain't out yet, so doesnt that make intel ahead by 1 generation?

Yeah I wonder how AMD is planning to ship those 1,000,000 by the year end when they keep delaying everything !
