Yahoo is closing its Yahoo Auctions service in the UK and Ireland on June 28 and in the U.S. and Canada on June 16. The closure of the UK, US and Canada sites will not affect Yahoo's auction sites in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. Yahoo said the U.S. sites will no longer accept listings from June 3 while Auctions Scheduler and Auto Resubmit features will not be available from May 4. In a message posted on the U.S. auction site Tuesday Yahoo said the decision was made so it could better serve its "valued customers through other Yahoo properties." Yahoo will continue to provide sellers, bidders and buyers with customer care and a limited set of features and tools until October 29.

Seriously. Listing fees, listing upgrade fees, final value fees, paypal fees. By the time they are through getting their cut the sellers are left with hardly anything.

I thought Yahoo closed down auctions in the UK years ago. The bottom of the page when you goto auctions.yahoo.co.uk says copyright 2002 so I think PC World got a bit confused.
