The greatest thing to happen for High Definition has been undoubtedly fierce competition. The HD DVD Promotional Group is launching a new campaign: a $100 instant in-store rebate on some Toshiba HD DVD players. Between May 20 and June 16, shoppers in the US will be able to purchase the Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player for a mere $300. During the final week, the promotion will be extended to any Toshiba HD DVD player. On top of that, an instant $200 rebate will be given to those purchasing a HD DVD player and a 42" or larger Toshiba HDTV. Those taking advantage of the offer will also get to pick five free HD DVD movies from a list of 15 that includes Seabiscuit, Casablanca, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Perfect Storm and Blazing Saddles.
"We know that price is a powerful driver for consumers to adopt new technology, which is why our rebate promotion is a great incentive to bring cinema-quality, high definition movies into your home today," said Jodi Sally, VP of marketing at Toshiba America Consumer Products.
