Windows Live Suite on its way?

If you somehow, although I’m completely at a loss of how you could, missed the fact that an internal beta build of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 recently leaked onto the Internet, I’m not going to bother bringing you up to speed. Go call your ISP and demand a refund: there's no way you could have missed it with your Internet working correctly.

The real news here is not the fact there is yet another update to the UI of WLM - instead, it is interesting to see what lies inside the leaked build. When comparing Other version information under Internal Name, version 8.1 has a value of “Install_Messenger.exe” while version 8.5 has “WLSuite.exe”. Now, coupled with the fact a new program has appeared on Microsoft Connect with the short description of “Windows Live beta for Messenger, Mail, and Writer”, it would be quite ludicrous to condemn this as just another rumour. It is very possible Microsoft plans to test a suite of Windows Live software composed of Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Writer. I doubt, however, that Microsoft won’t release the three applications in seperate installers along with the (bloated?) Windows Live Suite.

I'd much rather them work on WLM for Vista rather than bunching a load of applications together.

I guess we need to see first what are they offering (Emil) instead of making a massive flamebait attack against MS,maybe we could have both worlds (A suite) & (Or a single application installer,as seen in this latest beta, why not?).

Dont mount the beast, without the chair (Or viceversa)

People have said that the installer for WLM 8.5 is new, so I'm guessing they'll give you the option of what parts of the suite to install.

I love the intro on the shufflestorm site:

Shufflestorm discovers hidden information in leaked 8.5 Messenger build. Exclusive!
Hidden? That's a strange definition of hidden they have there.

As for what it means -- life is too short to care.

What kind of writing style is this? Tell the reader in the opening paragraph that they're a moron if they haven't heard of a recent news story??????

LOL. Don't give up your day-job for journalism, writer.

Agreed. For some people, IM clients just aren't THAT big a deal news wise. I'd heard of the leaked client but only bu chance.. I don't even use Messenger so it wasn't on my radar at all.
