- uhh yeah good luck with that in court, "this user uploaded a 30 KB text file that happens to contain metadata to potentially download a file that will probably stop existing by the time this case reaches court...... and these users downloaded the text file".

- So if they turn off access to the U.S. do they still need to track users and hand usage log over to MPAA?
-

- thank goodness i dinna use torrents. never have, and never will. too much hassle.

Yeah, and with private trackers, they usually have your email and a great way to link all your IPs to your account. Brilliant.
In any case, this isn't anything to worry about. They can't prosecute you for looking at torrents, or even for downloading a torrent file. At least not yet, and not in the US.
I think they're mostly looking for the distributors; the pirate groups. That's a waste of time ofcourse, but the MPAA doesn't care, it is getting *paid* to do this. -

Public or private. It can still lead back to you

#4.4 Posted by whocares78 on 11 Jun 2007 - 08:43
- it's the internet everythign and anything can be tracked
-
#4.5 Posted by Glassed Silver on 13 Jun 2007 - 10:18
- i guess private trackers are way not as private as one wishes...
u know, these guys can get into pretty much every private-d group.
if it takes to have an invite to a private tracker site, and you and me can get it some way, the MPAA and RIAA and friends prolly had the chance to use an invite earlier than we.

Ever thought of using that money and going back to school to learn how to spell and use puncuation?
BTW. Your above post could be used to incriminate you in court since you pretty much just admitted you download movies using torrents.
You're nowhere near a court yet and done screwed yourself

Whatever man. The fact you're throwing around that you have all kinds of money and master degrees just tells me and most likely others, that you're full of poo. Take the trolling elsewhere. Nobody here cares. You sent out e-mails begging for people to sue you? Think of something better than that next time.
Thank you very much! -

it's like this dude i don't care what you like ...period . I'm successful I'm proud of the fact I'm a professional and successful I'm also not like most on here 22 year olds working at best buy ok. that is successful as well. Yeah I have a little education I don't brag in fact out of almost 600 posts I may have mentioned it 6 times. your problem is and people like you is when you see someone that is successful and educated you feel threatened.
I really dont care if you like it or not get over it, im not some boy im a man and you have no say what so ever about anything. Take that and thank yourself my friend. -

Mircleman, you're an idiot. Having an edumikation and poor spelling, and arguing about it, illustrates that you undeservedly received a piece of (toilet) paper from an educational instutition which itself ranks poorly in terms of quality -- but they're taking your money, so they have no reason to care for their reputation.
Actually, your returning to school tells all of us that you are undecided about yourself (read: lack confidence) and/or have a poor sense of judgment. Either way, it does NOT make you any better.
As for your claims of seeking legal action against you: you're an idiot. Who the hell asks a dead man to file a lawsuit against them? That's just absurd and downright mean. What's more, unsubstantiated claims are insufficient grounds to sue you; they need accurate and personally identifyable evidence for cause about your actions before even stepping into a courthouse. Anything put into writing, physically or virtually, if true, is incriminating evidence -- but not enough for a party to sue you.
Use spellcheck, get a lawyer, get a real education, and hopefully you'll get a clue. -

funny my spell check says I didn't have 1 misspelled word you however were not lucky now having said that. for your information the reason I decided to go back to school was because my degree is in computer programing from 20 years ago as I'm sure you know things have changed quite a bit since then. thats the only reason. I have more confidence then most I officially retired at 35 years old but still work not because I have to but because i like to.
as far as jack is concerned I did this in 2004 before he was deceased. I'm far from an idiot unlike you im willing to put my money where my mouth is and stand up and put it all on the line to make a difference. unlike the few of you on here who when someone says something about money or education immediately for whatever reason feel intimidated. we are all on the same team and should be fighting them not each other. If you scroll up i was not the one who trolled . -

- i dont know WHY MPAA bothers to shut sites down that offer illegal movies etc cause the truth of the matter is... not all people will buy movies even if they stoped every single one of em... sure some might but i can guarentee not all of em will.... so there "loses" aint as bad as they claim they are.
so basically they would be better off spending there money on other stuff vs trying to stop pirates as it will never stop them... cause as we all know they shutdown torrentspy and another pops up in a few weeks. plus it aint like where having a shortage of torrent sites. so basically unless they can take out damn near all torrent sites (which aint gonna happen) they might as well not bother trying to screw with torrentspy. -

Exactly...They (MPAA) work on the belief that if pirates were stopped, they would then buy legal dvds/cds etc. The MPAA should take its head out of its a$$ and go after the real pirates. i.e. the guys that copy the movies and then sell counterfeit copies of the movies. These guys profit from it, and therefore removing them would mean an increase in revenue (people that buy these would then have to buy the originals).
Then again, they could always do the reasonable thing, and lower the prices on the movies they sell/ in cinemas...ensuring more people would wanna watch/ own a copy of the legal movie. But guess thats never going to happen while they keep milking the consumers dry... -

I agree...I mean, the excuse always given for the high popcorn and soda prices is that the theatres dont make enough money just selling tickets...This is bullcrap.
I mean you hear all the time a movie made so many millions in the first few days, etc, but they still justify the high prices. I guess we are the gullible public. If we boycott the theatres / music cds / etc...They will have to drop the prices.

TorrentSpy has a strict privacy policy, stating that it will never track visitors without their consent; the site's attorney, Ira Rothken, has stated that "It is likely that TorrentSpy would turn off access to the U.S. before tracking its users." The EFF, an advocate for the public in digital rights cases, though still reviewing the case, has tentatively given support to the site; Fred von Lohmann, an attorney for the EFF, calls the decision "unprecedented" and "troubling". "We shouldn't let Web site logging policies be set by litigation," said Lohmann. The EFF fears this decision could provide a dangerous precedent for intrusive actions in e-commerce and digital entertainment sights.
