Apple has released information on its upcoming iPhone accessories. The most prominent iPhone accessory is the $129 black Bluetooth headset that features a single button for making/receiving calls and provides 5.5 hours of talk time and 72 hours of standby time with its lithium-ion battery. The Bluetooth headset comes bundled with an iPhone Dual Dock (charges both the iPhone and the headset) along with a Bluetooth Travel Cable.

The iPhone Dual Dock can be purchased separately for $49. A separate iPhone Dock (without a port for charging the Bluetooth headset) can also be had for $49. Other accessories available include a $29 USB power adapter, $19 Dock Connector to USB Cable, $29 Bluetooth Travel Cable and a $29 Stereo headset. My fellow Neowinians, what do you think of Apple’s pricing scheme?

i don't see why they'd sell an iphone dock without the bluetooth slot for the same price. having an empty slot will cause people to wanna buy the thing to fill it. the new sync cable's much nicer than the old one

The fact that you have to buy a USB charging cable is stupid. With any phone you should get a charger for mains use and a charger for USB use.

@TheBigB

It's a cable, how can it be nicer than the last one?
#2.1 joshysquashy on 29 Jun 2007 - 23:39
the iphone comes with a dock, a usb cable and a mains adapter for charging, you can purchase additional ones.

Just for reference

The phone box contains :

* iPhone
* Stereo Headset
* Dock
* Dock Connector to USB Cable
* USB Power Adapter
* Documentation
* Cleaning/polishing cloth

--------------------------------------------

Packed with pretty nice accessories to be honest, although sucks not to have a wall plug charger.

Anyway nothing can change the fact that its a phone with an outdated technologies.

Give me a phone with 3G, kthxbye.

It does come with a wall plug charger

Phone + service plan is already outragous for a phone that isnt even a smartphone.
(1 reply) #5 noleafclover on 30 Jun 2007 - 00:26
Yeah, $59.95 a month for the cheapest plan is insane..... In 2 years time there will be thousands of suckers wondering where all their money went - over $2000 if you get the 8GB iPhone and the cheapest plan, WTF!
#5.1 roadwarrior on 30 Jun 2007 - 02:40
The plan is cheaper than similar ones from the same carrier. Remember that this plan includes unlimited data connection, something you pay $40 for all by itself otherwise.

Call me when it has EVDO and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

No, wait: HTC already has a bunch of models that have that.

ugly is the dirty, grimey mess that iPhones will become after a week of artsy hippies touching the screens with their unwashed fingers... *barf*

better keep those polishing cloths handy kids.

I bought an iPhone today and I've very much enjoyed it. Those of you calling it overpriced must be 16 and make no money. Anybody with any job can afford it. I'm 20 and work in IT at my school making 12.55/hr and I can afford it easily.
#7.1 Boz on 30 Jun 2007 - 01:45
you do realize that iPhone won't get your laid or make you look cool right?

So in other words, you do not have a mortgage, kids, or any other expenses that others have. To say anyone with a job can afford it is crazy. There are people out there with jobs that are struggling to make ends meet. Hopefully marriage will help the priorities. Congrats on the marriage.

"I'm 20 and work in IT at my school making 12.55/hr and I can afford it easily."

Woooo a whole 12.55 an hour.

You do realize that you spent almost an entire paycheck on your phone.

Someone needs a dose of real life (ie outside of your mom's basement).

I get out of school in a few months. I'll be fine. I had an internship with National instruments and I'll have a job waiting when I get out. Nobody works during school. I'm just point out that I work barely any in a student job and I have enough for it. What do you know anyways. My degree in electrical engineering is almost complete. I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Joke's on you buddy. I goto school in the mornings and I work for a little bit in the afternoons. I can easily rack up 35 hours a week. I get paid every two weeks. You do the math. Its over 900 dollars. I guess its difficult for you to understand my point. I'm not saying 12.55 is a lot. It isn't. But it is a lot for a student working while going to school. You wouldn't know unless you went to the University of Texas. People here usually work at Old Navy, HEB, and other places and earn 8-10/hr. Heck in line I saw a 16 year old guy who bought his iPhone with HEB money. Next time read before you run off your sarcastic mouth.

Dude there are too many holes in your touching story (and in your maths)...

- A "little bit in the afternoons" adds up to 35 hours a week? You'd be working till 9-10pm to rack up that many hours if you start in the afternoon "after school", and that's a full working week...
- 35 hours * $12.55 = $878.50, which is less than 900 dollars, and that's before you consider tax...

Good luck with the iPenis though

Give [bear] a break. Sure, he was being a bit of a show-off in the parent post, but whatever. Let him buy an expensive toy. We can all have fun when we're young, and deal with the consequences later. It's what being young is all about. Eventually he will deal with more and more expenses, and he might have to pull a few shifts extra to be able to pay for his phone bills, but he gets to enjoy life to it's fullest at one of the best times to do so.

What's the point in working hard if you can't have a little fun every now and again?

Congrats on the marriage, though! Even though I don't know you, and will probably never meet you, I wish you and your fiancée the best.

Don't listen to these dicks who have nothing better to do than critique your lifestyle on Neowin.

Thanks, people always get mad when you have something they don't. It happens.
#7.11 +Ji@nBing on 30 Jun 2007 - 09:25
No need to be dicks about it. Just because you and I think the iPhone is overpriced, that doesn't mean no one has the right to get it. He got it and he's happy with his purchase. Good on him.
#7.12 plastikaa on 30 Jun 2007 - 10:59
Would be nice to buy one but I dont have money to burn and its overpriced at the moment heavily - I wouldn't spend 4% of what I earn over two years on a phone like you have. I'd get a cheaper phone and work a couple hours less a week.

You do know that there's only 4 years between 16 and 20, yes? And since you're still young, it won't shock you quite as much when you find out one day that your job has vaporized and been sent to someone else that'll do it for $3.00/hr in a foreign country. IT is NOT a stable career track anymore.
#7.14 8-n-1 on 01 Jul 2007 - 01:10
Let's be realistic here: Bear came on and claimed that if you couldn't afford an iPhone, you "must be 16 and make no money." He made his bed, let him sleep in it.

He appears to have little-to-no idea what living in the real world means -- does he pay for his own schooling? His own food? Does he own a car, make payments on it, pay for its insurance, maintenance, gas, etc? Does he pay for health insurance? Does he buy his own clothes? Does he pay rent or a mortgage? There are tons of other expenses in real life that his post seems blithely unaware of.

Sure, we were all young, but to claim some financial high ground over an overpriced gadget, when the poster obviously has no clue, invites being shot down. Bang bang.

LMAO

I finish school in a month i am so old enough sounds like you have your life all layed out ahead of you by mommy.
so you are one of those IT guys that is not really an IT guy, hence the electrical engineering degree, good luck with the electronics maybe you should stick with that and stay out of IT
(1 reply) #8 obsolete_power on 30 Jun 2007 - 17:42
IT is starting to get moved over into Asia and the Middle East. Alot of people I know have been laid off in IT because the companies just don't see a profit anymore to hire people in the United States and Canada.

[bear], I'll see you at the Apple store in a few days returning that crappy iPhone so that you can pay half of your rent with that money, idiot.
#8.1 whocares78 on 02 Jul 2007 - 02:47
i think you are overreacting to the extreme, maybe first level helpdesk etc etc, but there will always be jobs for it guys that are onsite, i.e my computers broke fix it, no i can't i am in asia and won't be at work for like 12 hours.

but i agree iphone = waste of $$$

i noticed that, typical non IT guy that thinks he actually knows what he is talking about, but with no actual technical training, and very littlew knowledge, i bet is a roll out engineer i.e sticks the disk image in the PC and clicks image.
#10 eilegz on 01 Jul 2007 - 15:28
interesting but the iphone itself cost too much i cant afford it, seriously its like the ps3, and with the whole apple restricted scheme that i just dont like, i mean activated the phone using itunes?

seriously never get a 1st gen apple thing, wait a little and you will eventually get a better deal and product from them, i just wish that everything will flop after the initial hype.
