The attorney general has decided not to take action against a Muslim juror who allegedly listened to music during a murder trial.
Ruhela Khanom, in her 20s, was accused of hiding an MP3 player and earphones beneath an Islamic hijab or headscarf.
She was discharged from a murder trial jury at Blackfriars Crown Court.
The man on trial, Alan Wicks, was later jailed for life for murdering his wife. The attorney general's office said there was insufficient evidence.
A statement from the office of the Attorney General, Baroness Scotland, said she had "considered carefully the papers in this matter, in particular the witness statements, and has concluded that there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of proving beyond reasonable doubt any alleged contempt of court".

Even if you are right, that's got nothing to do with UK criminal law. I certainly hope if i ever end up in court there isn't some moron ignoring the evidence whilst listening to music, unless of course i'm in the wrong
EDIT: Not to be too cynical, but i wonder if there's a more specific reason as to why no action was taken against her!

Many Muslims don't fully assimilate into Western Culture. In fact there is a movement in England, amongst the Muslims, demanding that British Common Law be replaced with their Shari'a Law. If she were punished this same Muslim community would cry racism, as if a religion is specific to any one race.
what are you talking about? do you think in the muslim world killing one's wife is not regarded as murder. murder is murder be it killing your wife or any other human.

1. A page that bills itself as "A CHRISTIAN REVIEW OF BAD RELIGIONS AND BELIEFS" is not going to be taken seriously as a source of information about Islamic culture.
2. Anybody can cherry-pick from any religious text to paint them as sexist, genocidal animals. Try harder.
Also, in before a hundred examples of every sect doing the same thing.

I also note that British common law doesn't exist! Its English law in England (& Wales) - the fact you don't know this and think England = Britain tells me you're probably some American who couldn't point to England, let alone the Muslim world, on a map! Do you subsribce to the English Muslims for Sharia Law newsletter or did Fox News convince you there is a major movement in England/Britain/Europe/anywhere not in the US empire to implement Sharia ... quick, load up the bombs and weapons and invade us, we might be implementing Sharia to take away your freedom!

then maybe you can cherry pick and find a site that 'says' a Muslim does not view a wife as property....try harder yourself to as least add something a tab bit more concrete besides 'words'

What many people fail to realize is that murder is the UNLAWFUL killing of a person. In fundamentalist Islam women aren't persons. They are the property of either their husbands or the oldest male relative in their lives. At best it is considered destruction of property. Killing a man's livestock is a more serious crime. In fact if a woman is raped under Shari'a Law she can be charged with tempting the man and if she gets pregnant, from the rape, she can also be stoned to death for adultery.

This whole thing is only making news because the Juror who was listening to music was Muslim. No where does it state that a Muslim killed his wife, does it? End result that she was discharged from the juror's bench.
People kill people day in and day out. People die all over the place. The only reason this is news is because of the fact that this woman who was listening to music on her ipod is Muslim. All I see is that she did something that everyone who has been a juror in the past has thought of but got caught.
If the following was the headline, would anyone had read it?

From what I've seen in images, her attire was not a full attire but only on her head. Do your research bub.
And if you want to take it further, baggy ass clothing, hoodies and other such attire that is found through North America should be suspect as well. I mean, I'm no fashionista but wouldn't you say that it too "helps get away with this stuff?"

Apples and Oranges. We are NOT REQUIRED to wear these type of clothes. We can wear almost whatever we want. Do you have trouble telling the difference between a fashion, and a MANDATORY form of clothing?
I had recently seen a documentary, by Richard Dawkins, and in it he was speaking with a Muslim man about Islamic clothing for women. The Muslim came back and said that we dressed our women like whores. Dawkins replied that we don't dress "our" women at all, they dress themselves. Meaning that they're no one's property.
The ironic thing is that rape isn't epidemic here as you would think either. Rape is more of a problem in fundamentalist Muslim countries than here since most victims there are afraid to report it because they will be the one's punished and possibility killed for adultery if they had become pregnant through the rape.
