Woot.com, the online clearing house known for its "One Day, One Deal" specials, has managed to get their hands on a quantity of Microsoft Zune media players (white only) and is offering them up for $149.99 plus their standard $5.00 shipping. At this price one would expect that they're offering refurbished units, but according to the Woot web site the units are new. While it's not "news" and we don't usually post online finds like this, I thought that it was a significant enough price difference to warrant bringing it to the attention of our masses.

Damn, that's ~ £80 all in!

Thats awesome! Hopefully this might cause retailers to lower the actual prices.

Woot sells one item per day, and after that it is gone. Other retailers will not follow suit, typically. You either get it from Woot today, or pay more.

Dell has the black one's for like $120 less than a week ago.

But why the hell is this front page news? Looks like our editors are getting sweet with online retailers.

I think the editors are just tryin to let us know about a good deal. I don't mind.

Dell's was a mistake and they aren't honoring it.

As bangbang023 said, Dell's was a goof and they aren't honoring it. As for my intentions, I ran across a good deal on a popular media player and posted the article as a gesture of kindness to our readers. We're not in bed with Woot, I don't even know anyone at Woot. Stop trying to read more in to it than what it is.

price mistake, yes...honoring, depends >.>

if you called when they canceled it, most CSRs would let you place it for a white zune, they claimed it was canceled because it was OOS

Y'know, Engadget reported this as well on their front page.

#9.1 PureLegend on 22 Aug 2007 - 22:07
You don't have to stop getting songs from there with iTunes Plus - the Zune does AAC!

Definitely a good deal, but there will be more as the next gen Zune comes to market. I like my Zune and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a quality personal media player.
