Fans of US TV will initially be able to download episodes from 28 series, although Apple is promising more content will be added soon to its newly launched video downloads service in the UK. Apple’s UK iTunes store will charge customers £1.89 per episode (compared to $1.99 USD per episode), viewable on iPods or a TV via Apple’s add-on peripheral Apple TV. Studios and channels include ABC, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, MTV, Paramount Comedy and Playhouse Disney. Apple launched its video download service in the US two years ago; it is unclear why it took so long to arrive in the UK. Is it possible that this iTunes update coincides with an upcoming iPod upgrade?

That's the biggest most expensive damn add-on I've ever seen.

Its rip off Britain of course.

Sigh. I would use something like this if it was affordable.. but £2 per SHOW just isn't economical at all. You can buy box set DVD's for a lot less and ultimately you have something to show for your money.

Is there a market for this ? ..... I have sky+ and if I want to watch something from the states then I can search elsewhere on the net if you catch my drift. So I don't think the outlay for the apple TV and a video Ipod is a way forward for me.

I suppose that there would be a limited market for this.. for example someone fairly well off who commutes in and out of London on the train every day.. i'm sure a video iPod with episodes of their favourite TV shows on would help pass the time.

Again - at £1.89 a show, I don't see folks rushing to splurge their hard earned on something like this!

Oh there will be some numpties with more money than sense who will use this service, but for anyone with brains it's a complete non-starter (and a rip-off).
