Windows Live makes it easy to store and manage your communications and information, and share what’s going on in your life with the people who mean the most to you. Many of you have already tried out new versions of our web services – Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Spaces, Windows Live SkyDrive beta, and the new Windows Live Home page beta. These have been designed to work together with a common navigation, so it is easy to switch between your e-mail, your space, your files, and your photos—from any browser.
Today Microsoft are releasing beta versions of a new generation of Windows Live software designed for your Windows PC that makes it easier than ever to get connected to Windows Live or other services. This suite of software includes e-mail (Windows Live Mail), photo sharing (Windows Live Photo Gallery), a great publishing tool that lets you post directly to your blog (Windows Live Writer), parental controls (Windows Live OneCare Family Safety), a new version of Windows Live Messenger (8.5), and more.
Starting today, you’ll be able to install the entire suite of these downloadable Windows Live services at one time, from one place, instead of going through separate installations for each service. Of course, if you don’t want the entire suite, you can still get each application individually.
This new suite of applications is a new way that we can make connecting, communicating, and sharing anywhere a terrific experience on your Windows PC. Together with our web services, we have a complete suite that combines the best of the Web and the best of Windows, and works the way you want.

Wonder what changes they've made since the last builds that were available other than the removal of the "Beta" tag

Writer: Ability to insert videos; new XHTML markup capability; ability to print your blog posts; new support for Blogger image upload tools and PicasaWeb.
Mail: Photomail improvements; Contacts improvements; and a new customizable toolbar.
OneCare Family Safety: New integration with Mail, Messenger, and Spaces.

Version 2008 (8.5.1288.816)
As for Mail, the installer states I already have the latest version. What a disappointment
And i thought it would cum in one installer, so i dont have to keep downloading it if i format pc or if i wana install it on different comps, it sucks that it just downloads them.
Does anyone know where it downloads them to?

yeah, it sucks, hopefully there will be standalone links for each, i want standalone 10mb or so .exe's of live mail desktop and live messenger, was annoying having the program download them.

my bad, i didn't realize i couldn't give my opinion. For your information I don't bash Microsoft, I was a beta tester and I gave them tons of ideas and agreed with many ... all of them were closed.

BLAH BLAH EXCUSE EXCUSE is all I read in that.
You make comments that make it look like you can't stand MS and their products. So why do you bother being a beta tester?
Doesn't make any sense at all.

Because he wants to make the products better, that's why.
Now as for you, if all you have to contribute is criticizing a person who gives their opinion then do it elsewhere.
Comment on the topic at hand.

How old are you again?
"Windows Live programs can't be installed on this operating system"
When running "WLInstaller.exe"?
That would be a great guide if I could find the offset he's talking about.
When I use Resource Editor the offset doesn't match anything he's saying, nor does it match in resource hacker.
What program do you think he's using?
I found a Hex editor that will work, but the problem is that the program still doesn't put any of those items where he said it would

I'm on Vista 64 too
no hard feelings bro, I were just saying "me too". Anyway yes it works on Vista 32bit as a some of my friends are using it now. Hopefully we will find a solution soon.
I'm currently using some part of it and those 2 part are the one i would like to upgrade.
Windows Live Mail 12.0.1184
Windoes Live Messenger 8.5.1238
The rest i could use but not really need or want them.

The part about this that is really ****ing me off is that all of those apps work as standalone apps on Vista 64.
So the only thing that doesn't work is the installer.
Now the part that REALLY REALLY ****es me off about that is that Vista 64 still handles 32bit code natively, so why wouldn't it install?
If that dumb installer can't be fix so let us download them again as standalone.
But it's M$ ****, they will always find something new to make people mad at them
Looks like you will never change
Are you involved in the Live team somehow? I'm sorry if I "bashed" your product previously but apparently you cant take criticism. Either that or you are in love with Microsoft.

I'm neither actually. Just really tired of all the kids who don't know how to do anything besides bash stuff on forums.
You could be bashing the iPhone and I still would have said something similar and I don't even like the iPhone.
The constant bashing on here of MS, Apple and Linux just gets really immature and old. You all should find new hobbies.

then apparently you love the world you live in.. now get off the internet.. find a wife and get some real problems instead of getting angry at people saying what they want to say.
and no more beta tags
PS Just find out that the wlmail.exe is just being hidden, so that I can still open up Windows Mail

If you downloaded our Beta 1 build, you may not think that much has changed. While the look and feel is almost the same, we listened to your feedback and fixed many of the top issues reported by our customers. THANK YOU to all of our beta testers who reported issues.
