Windows Server® 2008 Beta 3 helps IT professionals to increase the flexibility of their server infrastructure while offering developers a more robust web and applications platform for building connected applications and services.

This time-limited release of Windows Server® 2008 Beta 3 will expire on April 7, 2008. After this time, you will need to uninstall the software or upgrade to a later release or a fully-licensed version of Windows Server® 2008.

This product requires a valid product key for activation – you may install the product without activation, but if you do not enter a valid product key and activate within 30 days of installation, the software will cease to function.

If you have received a product key via email confirmation, you may use the key with the software you download from this site or with a DVD containing Windows Server® 2008 Beta 3.

Its 5 month old news. This has been a public download for everybody since then. Publish date means nothing, stuff gets reposted on the Download Center all the time.

but... but... wasn't longhorn server beta 3 released a couple of months ago? or is this just a "public" release of it?
Quote this comment #3.1 Posted by Xerxes on 05 Sep 2007 - 13:08
I thought so too and the Longhorn Server Beta 3 was public also (as I just downloaded it off the MS website when it first came out, I'm not a official Longhorn Server tester btw)

So what is the difference between this and the older one? is it just re-branded Windows Server 2008 Beta 3 but other then that, still the same as the previous release??

There is none. As I said in another post, stuff gets reposted on the Download Center all the time; ISO names are even the same as the original ones released to *everybody* in April:

Look at the build date. Beta 3 came out in April. There has been a June CTP released since this.

No. Again, check your facts before posting. It has been a public download for everybody from the first day it was released in April. If you don't believe me:

Jesus... It's PUBLIC. If you are a beta tester then don't download it.

Who cares if this is "old news?" I'm shocked the mods continue to listen to people here spewing that out.

Who cares? We do. So should Neowin also start posting again that Vista has RTM'd? If that's your logic, it doesn't matter how old the news is that gets posted even though its common knowledge everywhere as this Server 2008 Beta 3 download was.

The people that care are those that come to neowin and expect to get fresh news that isn't just a re-spew of news that was posted months ago. I don't think that is too much to ask really.

I wish there would be gaming hardware support for this OS. It would be like a unbloated Vista.
