After announcing a $200 price cut for the iPhone, Apple quickly realized that it needs to take care of its annoyed early adopters. Steve Jobs received tons of angry emails from customers and on September 6, he decided to offer customers $100 “towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store," if their iPhone purchase was made outside of the 14-day sale period. Jobs said that more details would be revealed the following week and he stuck to his word.
iPhone customers should enter in their iPhone serial number and phone number at Apple's website after which they will receive an SMS text message with an access code to redeem the $100 credit. The access code and the user’s phone number will generate an electronic store credit of $100 to use towards any Apple Store purchase. Customers must request the credit before November 30, 2007 or forfeit their rights to the $100.

I just don't see what the big deal is.
BTW I just printed my 100bucks credit and it could have not been any easier.

They're not giving you $100 at all. You still have to buy something AT THEIR STORE. You can't spend it on anything else. You have to spend MORE money with them to use it. Think about it.
When I got a rebate from M$ on my trackball mouse, it was a check for the amount of money that I could use ANYWHERE. It was real money, not a discount coupon as this is.

I think the rebate you got for your trackball mouse was a bit different: you knew you were going to get it when you bought your mouse, I presume. Apple just decided to do this, they hadn't decided (as far as we know) to give a rebate from the day the iPhone went on sale. You don't have to spend more money on Apple stuff, Apple gives you money to spend on their stuff, which is a lot better than getting nothing at all. It's $100 that can be spent on iTunes (by buying music cards), iPhone accessories, Mac software and accessories (if you're into that), or just $100 towards a new computer.
Score one for the people. Screw you RIAA and MPAA.
My Fellow Apple Lovers,
...
Look, the "early adopters" were freely willing to buy the phone for it's original retail price. They agreed to it by buying it. Now because it's cheaper they're having a big cry? too darn bad. If you thought it was too expensive early on and you still bought it you have no one to be angry at but yourself.
Do you see PlayStation 3 or XBOX 360 customers lining up for rebates because they purchased them at their original prices and now they are less expensive? No.
Find something better to do with your time than obsessing over your buyer's remorse.
