Thanks Radish for posting this in Back page News. It's a video of the iPhone launch in the UK.
From Crave TV: Last week we got a cryptic invitation to an event at the Apple Store on Regent Street. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to possibly see the UK iPhone, we galloped over there to get a glimpse at whatever Apple had hidden in the store. Fortunately, it was the iPhone, and better yet, Steve Jobs himself turned up to show it off. The British press were perhaps a little less respectful than their US counterparts and posed Jobs some rather tough questions.
Take a look at the video to hear what ol' Jobsy had to say about iPhone hacks, why we're not getting a 3G iPhone just yet and why he thinks it's worth paying so much for it. Plus have a look at our photo story for close up images of the day's events and the UK iPhone.

I thought it did support exchange.
Plus the only decent thing it has is the touch screen/interface.

exactly, if you want the touch screen get the touch ipod, and keep your cell phone.
the iphone is way overpriced, and the plans are rediculous.
Would like one, definately. Just has a lot of features I like in a package I like!
Hmm people in the UK a little less respectful?
After watching the video, I would say no one there was being at all disrespectful. Just people asking questions.

When it launched over here none of the hacking tools existed yet, so there were no questions to be asked about it. Now they're out and people had a chance to ask Jobs some questions about it so they took their chance.
Just never release a product and say it can't be hacked. That just makes the hackers do it faster.
Cant say I heard anything bad in there. lots of valid questions and with the exception of avoiding the carrier question lots of good answers.
Has to make a nice change from a room full of starry eyed ass kissers.
they were all polite with their questions and none of them rude, they al;l showed respect. just caue they asked questions he didn't really want to answer isn't their fault, and not disrespectful
to quote jobs "more mega pixels doesn't make a better picture" does he know somethign the rest of the world doesn't

Techncially it's true. compare the5-6 Mpx Kodak cameras to the more expensive Canon 10-11mpx(or whatever it is) camers of the same segment. You'll notice that the differece are marginal and in some cases the kodak gives a better picture while in a few rare cases the higher mpx can givea better picture, though thiis is becuase it can handle moire better. but the Kodak has excellent handling of moire anyway.
granted these are a totally diifferent class of cameras.
For a cellphone though, yet mpx does make a differencem BUT bigger lenses capable of collection more light and better glass may give you better pictures on a 2 ps camera than cheap cell phone optics and a 6mpx sensor.

ok comparing different brands fair enough, you woudl get the same thing with old polaroid cameras, but same brand camera with same technology, the more MP the better, true?
I was expecting a deeper voice
So, they picked the most customer unfriendly provider (O2), and the most customer unfriendly reseller (Carphone Whorehouse), it is a "marriage" made in heaven, or is that hell?
+1
HAHA! SO true. I've had a number of Mac lovers say to me, "I don't get viruses, everything always works!" I tell them "Yeah, it's because you don't know much about computers, you need to buy something that doesn't work with everything." The typical response is "Well, I like it"
I like Macs.. but Christ Almighty, the majority of the people that buy them, don't know jack **** about computers. To each their own.

Lol...I think you hit the nail on the head.
Iphone - Black
NNNNnoooooooooooo it dosn't match anymore I am going to have to go out and buy all new kit
Which is why you never see executives take questions in large audiences, esp when recorded, for a big product launch.
I think Jobs is just going to start launching product info on the Apple Movie Trailers site instead.
however I've suggested it before and suggested it again... the speed difference from EDGE to 3G is a greater multiple than the battery life consumption differences... hence if the 3G / EDGE power consumption is being managed efficiently to only be in use when needed - you'd assume that 3G would be the better choice and actually be able to download more before the battery ran out.
It would be interesting if someone had access to an iPhone and a few 3G phones - who could charge them full then see "how much" they can browse before they run out... for example reloading something like a 100kb webpage every minute till they ran out.
