Microsoft on Tuesday issued its first update for Windows Home Server, which addresses several minor glitches that have arisen since the software was released to manufacturing. Launched last month, Windows Server is on its way to becoming one of the most popular Microsoft releases in recent years, according to solution providers, who applaud its ability to connect multiple PCs in the same household and allow users to store, manage, back up, and remotely access their digital content.
Microsoft is making the Windows Home Server update available to customers through Windows Update and has also pushed the update to its OEM and distribution partners, including Hewlett Packard, which will incorporate the update in its HP MediaSmart Server, which is due to launch this fall.
As part of the update, additional documentation will be added to cover the remote access features of Windows Home Server, to deal with and troubleshoot problems that have materialized with home network router/firewall and broadband providers' software.

It might have helped if they released it as a retail product the way they said it would be initially... I'm not going to buy some company's crappy hardware just to run a server on when I have 2-3 computers worth of parts in my closet.

Isn't MS suppose to eventually release a System Builders OEM DVD? or have they scraped it also?
To be honest I was planning on getting the OS if I could get it OEM. I could just as easily use a *Nix or free Windows Server releases I get from the uni being a student, but for the fact this requires so little setup and is automated to do the very few things I want to do it just seems like a nice easy solution. In particular I like the HD space pooling and the fact it's designed with media streaming in mind. Would make a nice companion to my pc's and xbox 360.
Heres hoping for an OEM version of some sort.
There is an OEM available - not in the US as yet but in the UK and elsewhere.
I think it will be. I'm running the beta right now and I've connected a total of six drives giving me a little over 1TB of space. I'll probably lose a good portion of it due to duplication, but it's a great server.

In the time it took you to type that you could have typed "Windows Home server" in google.

So in other words... why have Neowin when there's google?
To sum it up... its a OS with a server infrastructure that makes it easy for a regular user to set up a web server.
