After a couple of experiences dipping a toe into the mobile market, Mozilla Corp. said it plans to get serious about developing a mobile browser. Mozilla has recently hired two new developers to help work on the project and plans to release Mobile Firefox some time in the next year or two.

The iPhone, Apple Inc.'s popular new mobile phone, in part contributed to the renewed interest in mobile browsing at Mozilla. "The user demand for a full browsing experience on mobile devices is clear," Mike Schroepfer, vice president of engineering at Mozilla Corp. wrote in his blog on Tuesday. "If you weren't sure about this before, you should be after the launch of the iPhone."

You don't understand that Opera Mobile is not only browser, but a complete system with it's own servers which make pages much smaller, more efficient and fit for mobile browsing. The system effectively loads off between 30-50% off of standard mobile browsers page download. So no Opera isn't going anywhere any time soon. Not until Mozill offers sam functionality, since kilobytes are premium on mobile platforms.

If the UI is a pain to use then what's the point. Only Apple, and now Mozilla, seem to realize this.

The "mini" browser don't share the complicated UI that main browser does.

You have the names confused. You are talking about Opera Mini, not Opera Mobile.

Opera has the edge in mini browser for various devices. The Nintendo Wii's Browser (opera made it) is vastly better then PS3 (Homebrew) plus done very well on mobile market.

Mobile Firefox will probably hog up all the phone's resources.
