In recent months, some users were experiencing freezing problems with their iMacs, apparently due to faulty drivers used for the included ATI Radeon HD graphics cards. Apple aimed to fix the issue by the end of October and has just now released the "recommended" update for 20" and 24" iMacs with 2GHz, 2.4GHz and 2.8GHz processors. Apple has two separate updates available for download: iMac Software Update 1.2 for Tiger and iMac Software Update 1.3 for Leopard. Although the company originally stayed silent on the issue, it is great to see that once they acknowledged it they worked quickly to release a fix. Some users are reporting, however, that the issue remains unfixed.

According to members at MacRumors, this did not fix that problem: "Some had hoped this would fix the intermittent Freezing problem that Apple had promised to address, but a couple of reports in our forums claim this problem persists even after applying the software update."

Come on! Really, everyone touts this "closed system" to be the holy grail of computing. Mac don't support anywhere NEAR the hardware that Linux and Windows does, and yet.... there's driver problems? Gimme a break.

Didn't you know? Its not Apple's fault. Its the user's fault for not buying... Wait a sec. That's the excuse the M$ apologists use.

I didn't get what he meant either but a good fill in would be "a better computer".

That's why I build my own. Something most Mac owners don't know how to do.

Compare Apple defects to the shitware sold by the rest of the industry.

I don't pay a premium for nothing, you know.

Actually, you do. The hardware in a Mac is no different than that of a PC, the only difference is that Apples are closed platforms which typically result in more stable systems; only in this case it is Apple that is incapable of making stable drivers.

As far as I'm concerned and from personal experience, many of Apple's products have problems and when they do Apple usually refuses to fix them unless under warranty and never replaces them.

Nice try deflecting the issue though.

the shitware? so you mean that POS evga 8800gtx that works flawlessly with my MSI MB that works flawlessly with my AMD X2 5000+ processor that works flawlessly with...... yeah that stuff? Macs are polished turds the traces on the boards are not plated with diamonds, your computer is no better than mine, you just paid more like the sucker you were.

That is the most weak excuse I've ever heard (seen) you use. Let's look at it like this..
Honda only has 10 recalls... where as Toyota has 7, Chevy has 5, Nissan has 8, Kia has 12, etc.... You are the Honda fan.. if you look at it like Honda has less recalls than the rest of the car manufactures.. yeah.. they will have less if you compare one to 15.
Your stance: Apple vs. The rest of the PC industry. That's not the right way to compare, but hey.. what do I know?

Very true.

Newsflash for all you Apple-kiddos-- If it wasn't for Microsoft, Apple would not have existed in its current form today. Don't believe me? Look it up.
