Microsoft in slip-up over Vista service pack

For a brief time Friday, it looked as if developers were going to be able to get their hands on a test version of the first Vista service pack, which is due for final release next year. Enthusiast site Neowin noticed a posting on Microsoft's MSDN developer site that promised developers could "Get the latest preview of Windows Vista SP1 on MSDN Subscriber Downloads." The site also said, "This new release of SP1 addresses reliability and performance issues, and provides support for new hardware and several emerging standards," according to Neowin.

That would have been a big deal, since the software has been only in limited beta testing, and not broadly available to developers outside of Microsoft. However, Microsoft said late Friday that the post was a mix-up and that no test code was released, nor was any planned to be released.

"The MSDN notice about a Windows Vista SP1 RC Preview was posted mistakenly," Microsoft said in a statement provided to CNET News.com "No code was released today and the MSDN notice has since been removed from the MSDN site."

Microsoft go **** a tree... Who works over there, the rats and insects? Oh did they use the keyboard and promise MSDN customers who pay for a subscription so you can be rich that they can get it but when you remotely accessed the microsoft server from the vacation place your at and noticed it you said nope, none of that, MSDN customers don't get stuff like that, you fools...

You're telling a non-living thing to have intercourse with a tree?

Perhaps a Macintosh computer would be more to your liking? After all, they have half as many buttons on their mice as Windows computers do. Maybe you will find it easier and less infuriating to use.

Chill out, they'll release **** when it's ready. Trying to rush a Windows product can lead to some unstable results, in case you didn't notice with their last few OS's...

Last few....? 2003 is pretty rock solid, and XP is/was probably the most stable OS they have ever made...

After some patching, most of these flaws are taken care of. But it's still a pain in the ass for the initial users who have to deal with the instability of even a single application, simply because it was rushed.

Every piece of software has to deal with those kinds of problems, but when it's something that a majority of people will be implementing, it should not be rushed.

There has to be some reason why Microsoft almost constantly keeps pretending they are about to release SP1 for Vista, then later pretend it was a mistake or lie.

I've lost count now of how many times its been claimed they were going to release it, then changed their mind or claimed it was a mistake/lie or whatever.

Twice actually TC17, and it was never through a press outlet... Once was an accidental email and then this. And it is just a breakdown of communications between teams. There are THOUSANDs of employees there.
