- Everyone (except Novell, apparently) knows that Open Office offers a small fraction of the functionality of Microsoft Office. It's also been well-documented that Windows offers a better total cost of ownership than Linux.
Clearly someone forgot to Get The Facts before writing their whitepapers. Maybe they hired some guys from c|net to write them

To state that Windows is better than Linux as a blanket statement is wrong (as most blanket statements are).

And, for what Office is used for here where I work, OO.o would do just as well for every single person I know (except the one guy here who is a bit of VBA wiz).
"Get the Facts", indeed. Even Microsoft has abandoned that name, and switched it to "compare". Compare studies. Do you own legwork. Come up with your own conclusion. Using just "facts" from Microsoft will lead to into buying guess what products....? Yup. You got it.

Even if OpenOffice.org offers only a fraction of what Microsoft Office can do, it is usually enough for most casual users and its free as well. The total cost of ownership also depends on what you use it for.

- So Novell wants you to stop using their competitor's product and switch to one that they support instead? Wow, that's pretty informative.
