yeah and this guy doesn't even know that geforce 9 are not even taped-out yet, it's far from beeing released, for at least 3 month. His stupid arguments are so pointless and is pure misinformation. He finds a reason to why it's not out yet ... what is that. Even if Nvidia was not doing good they couldn't deliver this geforce 9 before 2008

You sure about that? It's been over one year since the series 8 release. They went 65nm and could as well be finishing their new series. There have been rumors before that they would do a Q1-08 release. Last but not least... there is no actual nVidia card that delivers a high quality experience with Crysis, and if you take into account the work and time spent, and the publicity (and now negative publicity regarding the performance issue), they would do better to release a card that can handle that game the way it's supposed to be (or meant to be played! )... no?

Obviously a biased article by just the wording they used. Fact is, the ATI 3870 isn't slow, its plenty fast and enough for competition. It may currently lose at most benchmarks, but I have seen some games where it beats the 8800GT.

The ATI cards also come with better hdtv out options, along with directx 10.1, shader model 4.1, they run cooler and quieter, they already use 55nm cores (which apparently Nvidia won't come out with until the end of next year).

I would say Nvidia is the one behind the technology.

So true. Since GeForce 7 everyone basically forgot about ATI, but the truth is ATI is still the great graphics card maker it always was (even though it was bought by stupid AMD). But one thing: nVidia is much more compatible with basically everything, as well as most games. So far I've seen many "The way its meant to be played: nVidia" on all games but never an ATI logo.

well generally speaking i prefer NVIDIA over ATI as i been using NVIDIA graphics cards since the "Geforce 2 GTS 32MB" era

i just trust NVIDIA overall more... i dont think ill be buying a ATI card anytime soon.

i currently have a Geforce 7900GT (which i had since march 2006, at that time it was a pretty high end card, not THE BEST but close

)

Get real. ATi use to be good, now they are no competition. But when DX 10.1 comes out, they might have a surprise up their sleeve, who knows. Nvidia has been top dog for awhile now, you seriously cant even argue that.

I've built and fixed computers that have ATi cards and I can't stand their drivers, is it just me or are they 10x worse then nvidia drivers, installation problems and horrible GUI up the butt.

Anyway, I'll stick with my 8800 GT till the 9800 comes out depending how good its performance will be, I might just get another GT and SLI what I got. I heard from someone that the 9800 is just two G92 GPUs on each card. Don't know if its true and not really interested enough to go research it.

10x worse? Its pretty much just you. In fact ATI was way more on the ball than Nvidia as far as their Vista drivers...nvidia has caught up tho. I have no allegiance to either. Im leaning towards Nvidia for my next card. I wish another 2 or 3 companies would jump in, there needs to be more competition...same with sound cards.

Your right about the vista drivers, I do remember ATI was on top of that. I wish the same about more competition. Sound cards defiantly need more competition. I'll keep using my cheap chaintech av-710 till creative gets some competition.

Whoa, dude, calm it. In case you didn't see my last post, I have an nVidia not an ATI, and knowing what I buy before I get it, I can say that the ATI has more cost effectiveness but not as much strength.

to be honest, I sorely miss the time when ATi and Nvidia seemed very much to be so close competition it was "too close to call" often. Sadly now it seems it's been Nvidia very clearly on top for ages and ages. And I think having a single company totally dominating - no matter the company - is something that's contributing to the current situation where a game is released and simply cannot be maxed out by the current (still as ever super-premium-priced) top end card(s).

Graphics card industry is really in a terrible need of a more competitive atmosphere, in my opinion, not just a top dog and a distant second fiddle.

As someone else mentioned, it's also evident nvidia has their finger in many pies when you see the "nvidia" logo at the start credits of so many games. The only game I can think of I've seen ATi logo in recently is HL2:ep2, where it's not got some grand placement at the start credits, but a little logo tucked away near graphics options.

ATi badly needs to get back into gear. My previous computer had a 9800 pro, then a 6800GT (but I had wanted an 1800XT), and now my new computer has an 8800GTX, with there being no proper ATi alternative. And it looks like the next card I get will be another nvidia, and again probably without any real competitive choice for top end output this time. Very sad.

Get fingers out of rear end, ATi, graphics market sorely lacks competition...

NVidia is better atm yeah, but I don;t think the margins as huge as some people seem to believe and I've read benchmarks where under some games AMD will win out just. So while AMD may be behind, I dont think NVidia is that ahead that it can sit back on it's technology as it could come back to bite them.

Anyway I'll be waiting for the Geforce. Kind of disapointed it's still fairly far away and that in over a year the top end of the market hasnt had anything worthwhile release wise. I mean, sure, AMD may not be a threat currently but that doesnt mean software isnt being released now that can really give the current cards a pounding, especially on larger displays.
