A fast moving worm is squirming though Google's Orkut social network, adding hundreds of thousands of users to an Orkut community created by a Brazilian hacker. The worm, which first appeared on Dec. 19, has been spreading through Orkut's Scrapbook system at a rapid pace, infecting more than 650,000 users in the space of a few hours.
According to an alert from anti-virus specialist Trend Micro, infection starts when an Orkut user is sent an e-mail telling them that they have a new Scrapbook entry. Logging into Orkut, the victim is greeted with Portuguese-language text that reads: "2008 vem ai… que ele comece mto bem para vc." This translates to "2008 is coming…I wish that it begins quite well for you". No interaction is necessary. Simply looking at the scrap starts the infection sequence," says Trend Micro researcher Robert McArdle.

Why don't you volunteer your time and get a job working for them (for free) and you can patrol the boards making sure that eveyone's opinion of the world suits your taste. Google can't control the way people feel about the world, and why should they have to pay x amount of employees to read the millions of comments on youtube's messed up comment sytem just because some people are ignorant (Not calling you that, calling the people write hateful comments)? Just see them and ignore them. Are you really hurt by what someone hiding behind a computer screen writes? They're just words, you won't die from them

Yeah but it's still spam and spam has no place on public websites or forums. The comments should still be moderated just as a public message board else you get tons of bots, chain letters, racist, sexist and other offensive comments. You also get spammers/bots linking unsuspecting people to malicious content, scams and warez websites.
Leaving something unmoderated is just asking for all hell to break loose which is exactly what has happened ever since Google took over Youtube.
Also I'm sure if normal people can volunteer moderating various message boards for no income, that Google has the resources to employ a moderation team to go through and remove any offensive content or comments, spam and malicious content. Seems they are more concerned with bending over for the Riaa/Mpaa to remove copyrighted content rather than moderating the actual problems contained in the comments for videos.

Um, mind pointing out where I said spam was more important than the law? I was mentioning that they should moderate both. Such content has no place on public websites browsed by youngsters, adults and unsuspecting people alike.
I see nothing wrong with what I said and it stands quite true. Would you let your forum go unmoderated? Imagine all the heck that would break loose not to mention spambots, illegal material, pornography, advertisements etc....
If normal people can volunteer to moderate forums without being paid taking care of spam, troublesome members, unwanted content etc.... it should be no problem for Google with their massive resources to monitor and moderate such content.
Remember some people are not as mature as others and handle such content differently. Just because you may be mature, can handle it and don't see it as a problem doesn't mean the rest of the population will too.
It helps to read the comments throughly and rethink your reply before clicking the submit button you know.
