Any Australian resident 18 years or older who purchases one of twelve Sony Bravia Full HD 1080 LCD Televisions from a participating authorised Austrialian Sony dealer between 9am ADST December 21, 2007 and 11:59pm AEDST January 28, 2008 is entitled to claim (online, see link below) a free 40GB PlayStation 3. That’s $700 worth of console. Of course, they could just use it for gaming, but somehow I don’t think that’s what Sony is pushing for, in the long run. The purchaser should expect up to four weeks of waiting after the claim is accepted before receiving their new entertainment powerhouse. It sure seems like a good deal for both Sony and the customer, what do you think?

Ouch, that's unlucky. I had a similar excperience, just not as bad as yours. I finally succumbed to Sony and bought a 60GB PS3, then 3-4 weeks later, it got a price cut over here by £75 ($150)!
This is actually great for someone who is in for an HDTV. Bravia TVs are pretty good and free PS3, well it's free and getting a game console for free with hi-def capability is not bad at all. You can't beat free.
I think Yes.
For me it would be a great deal if I had it over here.
I'd get a HDTV, game console, and HD player all in one nice sweep, for the cost of the HDTV I'd be planning for anyway. Yes, a good deal indeed.

Considering the price gap with Sony's crap you could probably pick up a different brand AND a PS3 and still pay less than the Bravia.
Here you might want to check this link out if you are in the market for a good HDTV:

No, it shows how they are smart enough to make timely good deals during the holiday season for people already wondering about switching to HDTV's. A Blu-ray player adds up to the value of a HDTV quite well for obvious reasons. It's not like they're tossing together two unrelated items. There's a nice synergy at work here in the added entertainment value, and this is an excellent idea by Sony. They oviously have the profit margins covered too, or they wouldn't do it.

That's your opinion. I think it's more-less desperation to saturate the market with BD players in order to gain more lead on HD-DVD. That's just what I think. The numbers I've seen still show Xbox 360 ahead of the PS3, with the Wii still pushing ahead.
Yes no?
No. The Playstation 3 is now the number 1 selling console in Australia and New Zealand (in fact, in New Zealand the Wii trails behind the Xbox 360 and the PS3). I don't think Sony is having any trouble selling them

... no problem selling them in TWO countries. Good point.
