- more sure of their own superiority than the rest of the population
Uhm, people who buy expensive art paintings for ludicrous amounts of money are usually more sure of their own superiority than the rest of the population as well, and are also the minority of the population which places Apple in the correct light as well as market.
To say they are any better as a person (as the article implies) is incorrect, in my opinion people who buy Apple hardware generally feel they are buying into an art rather than a productivity item. This excludes graphic designers of course (who have used Macintosh for years -before the iWhatever rage). -

Thank you for the clarification. I was about to pounce with productivity studies showing productivity increases for those people using Macs. -

- I would say
more vocal of their own superiority than the rest of the population. But keep in mind, most people on the Apple bandwagon now (again, not people who were on Macs before the iCraze) are victims of Steve Job's Reality Distortion Field. The superiority is an illusion.
But hey, you gotta buy into whatever makes you happy

- Open minded? Isn't that generally a polite way of saying gay?
-
#4.1 Posted by seebaran on 17 Jan 2008 - 13:34
- As someone who is gay and a graphic designer, I actually thought the same thing. Gays/creative types/graphic designers lean toward the Mac side - just from my own observations of course.

Bzzt! I'm gay, too, and I hate Macs with a passion. -
#4.3 Posted by C_Guy on 17 Jan 2008 - 16:03

Gay does not equal victim of Reality Distortion Field. Both heterosexuals and homosexuals can be victims. -

- Open mind = people that agreed with the establishment and with the current marketing, usually brainwashed persons.
Usually open mind thinking :
-Japan and Norway must stop killing whales.
-Women = Men.
-Gays are right and natural.
-Marijuana is way wealthy that smoke.
-Smoke free in every place, cause is a right.
-Drugs free.
-Dead sentence must stop.
-Pollution is wrong.
Any many many others more.
While more of this claim are right but the method are *usually* incorrect, useless or they just talk too much and do nothing (Al Gore).
ps :And almost every "open minded" persons heard nobody but themself. -

- Mac people more open minded? Arent they they first ones that say Vista sucks or refer to Windows as Shmindows
I am sure there is some company that surveyed 7500 people and found that Windows users are found to prefer variety versus being content with only whats available
But mac people have rights too.
I wonder what the survey consisted of?

- It looks that PC owners are so against Mac users whatever they have. If you wound say that you have iPod or Mac and you love how good it works for YOU, you still be treated and horrible man.
I own Mac, I own iPod nano and I own PC. And what?.. 10 years with Windows, 1 year with Mac, UNIX and Linux. And I don't like that much Windows anymore...
Should force myself to like it?.. Why?.. There is no reason in the world to use only Windows and buy every released version, which would make me like king of PC world (Elite, cool man). No, I will stay with my old Windows XP, with my new Mac, with Solaris/FreeBSD ir Ubuntu, because I like how they work and how I feel working with them. And say whatever you want, I won't buy new PC just to run new OS. Only after 4-5 years.
Open minded

- I like this line.
"receptive to their own inner feelings and may feel both happiness and unhappiness more intensely than others."
So they don't get a Vista PC because if they get a BSOD they will be crushed by their intense unhappiness?
Also Liberal Minded != Open Minded
People with liberal minds are often very closed minded.

All the liberals I have talked with about shipping all the d@mn immigrants back to their countries have not been open minded about it...
So liberal doesn’t equal open minded! Liberals are why the USA is falling apart.
Oh to have the Regan years again…

- Half of the people commenting here don't know what being "open minded" actually means.
It means " having or showing a mind receptive to new ideas or argument".
It doesn't mean you believe in certain things, you can believe anything you want but you're open to new ideas, new things, new ways of thinking. And that is -never- a bad thing.
Which, if you ask me, is the exact opposite to your usual mac fanboy who will never ever admit that these days Windows is an excellent operating system. -

There are less problems, aka viruses, on a Mac, and generally less bugs because drivers for a Mac are much better than drivers for a PC (and drivers are the main cause of a problem on a PC).

- To feel the full benefit of being open minded, Apple requires all mac users to pay an extra $20.00. If they choose not to pay for the open minded upgrade then they will continue to feel less adequate than the rest of the mac community.

Mindset Media places these "enlightened" people into a category called "Opennes 5's" folks. People in that category are also more "receptive to their own inner feelings and may feel both happiness and unhappiness more intensely than others."
Sarah Welch, COO and co-founder of Mindset Media, said, "For the first time, marketers with brands that have distinctive Mindset Profiles, like Apple, can directly reach the people with the personality and attitudes that love what they sell." Mindset Media isn't disclosing the methodology used in the survey, so PC owners may still have a chance. Maybe I should plunk down $3,000+ for one of those new Macbook Airs and get in touch with my inner self.
