With dissatisfaction over the Vista operating system persistent, can Microsoft right the OS's wrongs with its upcoming Vista service pack? Microsoft made the latest beta of Vista SP1 available to the public earlier this month, and after informally testing it for a couple of days, I find my PC is working more reliably--and some tasks especially file copying, take less time. But I was hoping for more out of SP1, such as bigger system performance gains and fixes for Vista annoyances including the oft-criticized User Account Control feature.
And if you are waiting for major improvements to switch to Vista, you'd better hope that Microsoft's SP1 development team goes into overdrive before the service pack's official release and gives you more compelling reasons to make the jump to the OS. Vista undergoes no major overhaul with the SP1 release I looked at.

Sorry, but that was a very ignorant post, wasn't it? Ofcourse File copying works, they just speeded it up in SP1.

As far as the abysmal file-copying crap - TerraCopy is the answer - anybody that uses Vista should get it - the basic version is free and it work great (even faster than their improved file copying mechanism in SP1 seems like but I haven't done any technical comparisons).
I'll try the final version as well but have 0 hopes for it anymore and my plan is to move back to XP once SP3 comes out. Vista is the new ME as far as I'm concerned (if not even worse - at least ME was just crashing - Vista has all kinds of crazy problems) - Microsoft messed up big time. They can lie all they want about it's fast adoption and all that B.S.... Yes, I know they have high sales because it comes pre-loaded on new PC's but just by looking at how many friend's laptops I've re-formated back to XP this holiday season - it doesn't look like people want that s**t at all. I can only imagine how many wasted copies of this crap there will be - I know I'm guilty of caving in and buying one - stupid me. Should've spent that money on something useful instead.

last night i went back to xp. wow what a great difference. everything runs fast, it boots up faster. and all my programs work as they should.
tho only thing i miss is vistas new visuals. like the fading, transparent, and shaded windows.
