Look what the FedEx guy dropped off this morning. For your viewing pleasure the unboxing photos of the MacBook Air. Apple really paid attention to the boxing details of the Air, the box is REALLY well constructed, and very similar to the new iPod/iPhone boxes. Of note, it is amazing how thin the unit really is, we are booting it up now and benchmarking it later.

That's what makes it so bad. No optical drive, hardly any connectivity, not even an ethernet port and you can't even change the battery without sending it in. This is just another product for trendy iSheep. Sony made a much thinner and lighter notebook years ago, the X505. It was a way better value and a lot more usable than this pathetic thing.

Amazing how Sony hardly sold any of those and Apple's selling the Air at a decent rate.

Amazing how many people would buy a bag of dog crap if the bag was shiny and had an Apple logo on it.

dang. I was hoping upon a star someone would post on the front page pictures of un-boxing a crate of fruit. Now that would be newsworthy front page stuff.

This is news in what way?
#6.1 phiberoptik on 01 Feb 2008 - 13:16
Maybe if somehow attached a poll onto it, and we did a study on how many nubs bought one.... then it might gain a little extra "newsworthy" ness.

Macbook Air -- "Just Brag About It!"

Am I the only one that thinks Apple's packadging is over the top? It's a computer.... they take form over function to levels only seen at Apple.... dont get me wrong OSX is nice but this is stupid in my opinnion... how many times will you ever see the box after this?
#8.1 NeoTrunks on 01 Feb 2008 - 14:16
I actually keep the boxes. They're very handy if you ever need to move your computer around again. That's maybe not so practical for a laptop, but for a 20" iMac or even a Mac Mini, the boxes are invaluable. And, it's actually very easy to get the computers to fit snugly into the boxes again.
#8.2 TRC on 02 Feb 2008 - 00:28
Well to be fair the packaging in this case is probably more valuable than this crippled, pile of junk status symbol. I'm not an Apple hater by the way, they've made some great computers. I have an old Powerbook and still love it, but the MacBook Air is a piece of ****.

We don't see you posting any pics of your new apple laptop do we?

Jealously is such an ugly trait.

The sad thing is you probably don't even realize how stupid that post is. Yeah, he's jealous because there are no pics of him opening a box on the main news page. You're a genius.

Next time I buy a package of batteries I'll be sure to post pics of me opening them. Because that's so exciting and newsworthy. Wait, I was thinking about ordering a pizza. I'm totally going to take pictures of it being delivered and the box being opened, and if you don't like it that means your just jealous!
#10.5 peachey on 02 Feb 2008 - 08:07
If you don't like the news submit "better" articles then.

jelous of what, a BOX??? or the pile of crap inside it...

his point is openign a box is NOT news..
#11 C_Guy on 01 Feb 2008 - 16:20
That was certainly exciting. Now, where are the photos of happy customers opening their new Dell, HP, or non-Apple laptops? Surely it is no less exciting to see those!
(1 reply) #12 +Harlem39s Finest on 01 Feb 2008 - 16:26
why would anyone buy this overpriced piece of crap ?
#12.1 TRC on 02 Feb 2008 - 00:27
To be trendy.
#13 obsolete_power on 01 Feb 2008 - 16:37
MacBook Air is an abomination, Neowin, take that ****ing **** off your website before it ruins your reputation! Having the MacBook Air on anything is considered shameful I hear.

Let me say this just once - BIG WHOOPIE! This past week has been terrible for rubbish news items on Neowin.
#15.1 JamesWeb on 01 Feb 2008 - 17:34
Come on, surely the chance to laugh at someone who's wasted their money on one of these things is newsworthy.
#16 Doli on 01 Feb 2008 - 18:30
Its his/her money and if they did any research on it and still wanted it then its all good. Everything has pros and cons.
Its not for me.
#17 n_K on 01 Feb 2008 - 19:34
To be honest, if apple shares plummit to rock bottom then I agree it was well worth posting!
#18 WarLuigi on 02 Feb 2008 - 08:57

#19 whocares78 on 04 Feb 2008 - 01:25
