Apple today announced new iPhone and iPod models with larger memory capacities to solve the ever growing craze for more portable storage. This move doubles the amount of memory that was previously available on the top iPhone and iPod models.
Both new models (the 16GB iPhone and the 32GB iPod Touch) will sell for US$499.
Apple will continue to sell the 8GB iPhone and the 16GB iPod touch for US$399 each. Apple will also continue the junior 8GB iPod touch at US$299.
Some analysts are worried that a potential U.S. recession could affect sales of luxury items such as these portable devices. Apple stock is down more than 33 per cent this year.

Fred thanks for morning laugh
I wanted to get it out there in a hurry and I didn't want to make it a cut and paste job.
You see, on the forum I can get away with that and edit the post a minute later before anyone notices. The front page is just too fast for me.
Please do let me know if I missed any other typos. Remember cut and paste jobs are always typo-free but they lack uniqueness. I'm trying to offer you something better (even if it starts off temporarily worse).
Edit: Even this post needed a proof reading. I must learn to do that before I submit.

I either don't see that or another staffer fixed it.
Neobond is likely shaking his head right now. Hopefully not cursing but definitely shaking his head.

Yeah, it's fixed now
This is turning into a roast.
Haha, Grammar! Actually they weren't spelling or grammar problems they were just... stupid problems.
The last portable device I bought was measured in megabytes. I guess I need to upgrade.

lol so true how (and why) would a fifth grader know such random things? There are questions about fish, math (and not problems either), and random questions like "Which is the most common president's name and all that BS..
I hate that show..
put it this way. iphone launch comotion was caused because of price hiking and was an actual anti consumer move. increasing size and stuff is just logical with electronics and stuff, optical media's, TV etc. now you might realize there's nothing for early adopters to cry about here as it's the same device, the prices aren't dramatically changing or anything. It's exactly the same device just larger capacity using 2 16GB flash sticks. the early adopters are well aware this was coming. Flash media is growing at a rapid pace at same time cost to produce is dropping too. I'm sure everyone would agree that if ipods never increase in size we'd balling our eyes thinking wtf with 5-10GB ipods. Size is logical step that'll be taken just like all models of ipods have received just fitting the iphone and ipod touch get it which to those who need more along with the other fancy bells and whistles that other ipods cant offer then they will benefit those who have iphones and ipod touches now im sure would agree they do a damn good job and there's no reason to be upset or "cry" about this. btw i own 8GB iPod Touch.
Hehe. Actually i've got abit of a dilemma now...
Get iPhone @ 16GB & 18month Contract
OR
Get iPod Touth @ 32GB
Personally I'm waiting for a 32GB iPhone. 16GB would hold all my music but would be cutting it close by 1.5GB.
Great!
I was a fairly happy iPhone user on the AT&T network since July 2007 (due to business-related roaming, my monthly data charges were approx. $300). The phone got damaged last month and the damage was not covered by a warranty. As I wanted to continue to use my iPhone, I bought a new one (legit, non-activated), and wanted to do the swap using iTunes, of course. The process was going well, until I got to the review screen, which indicated that I was starting up a new 2-year contract. I stopped and phoned AT&T, and was told by 3 reps, including the supervisor, that the information presented on the screen was indeed correct. Once the users decides to swap the device for any reason (and even offer, as I did, to send the original device to AT&T so they can see that it's not a scam), the contract is extended (not for the additional 2 years, but starting up a new 2-year term from that day). I don't know if this applies to Orange, T-Mobile or O2, so I am not going to speculate here.
I found this to be absolutely ridiculous and mentioned it to AT&T reps, as I am locked into the data term and am unable to use it. They claimed the rule was due to contractual arrangements between AT&T and Apple. I was told that the same rules applies to any phone replacement though. I claimed that the comparison was not entirely true, as I could easily buy an unlocked phone at any time, and do a swap without having to extend my contract. The contract is only extended if I buy a phone through AT&T and benefit from a discounted rate. I was quite mad about the whole thing, and ended up cancelling my iPhone contract altogether. $175 penalty applied, so they still ended up getting some money from me, but I am feeling a lot better, and am using a WM6 smartphone now, with which I am quite happy.
But hey! Glad to hear the iPhone capacity is up! Now if only Rogers would lower their cell phone rates and allow the iPhone to come to Canada without having to go through the trouble of unlocking it, I'd buy one in an instant!
This is exactly what I did. But even when you do this, the new iPhone with the old SIM will indicate that it's not an authorised (or invalid, can't remember now) SIM, and one must activate the phone first. When I phoned AT&T they also wanted to ensure that I was keeping my old SIM. I did at the end, but it is now sitting in my Samsung smartphone
What I really hate is how they've subsidized phones from the get go. If they hadn't my guess is that current phones would be a lot more affordable.
It's a shame if what you are suggesting is indeed true (is there a way to verify this?) and that I was led to blieve otherwise. You would have thought that 3 reps (a lower level one, then the floor supervisor, then the department manager) of their iPhone customer support centre would have had the correct info.
